If you are lucky enough to have all the options at hand then it all comes down to the variables of the trip in hand. Environment, duration, weather, time of year etc. Would I bivvy in midge season Scotland or by a body of water in warm weather? Hell no.. Quick over-nighter in spring or Autumn...
