Day out in the Bushy Park

Hi, My one is just going to be 5 in may. I am surprized how much she loves these kind of outdoorsy things. I thought she would be more in to just regular playing like hide and seek but she is really interested in bushcraft as well. I hope she will keep her interest when she gets older.

Day out in the Bushy Park

My daughter and I had a great day in our local park. This is the second biggest park in London called the Bushy Park. It was a bushcraft day for us as I was teaching her how to do some bits in the woods. Here is the link for the video...

    basic bushcraft

I've had a day out in the woods and I was trying out some home made and kitchen stuff how they work in the forest. This is the short video I made about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ZHjUSio714&index=3&list=PLRMS9rkv8u3sePy7W4kO32BZXfRKid3D9

Home made ,,fuel blocks'' for a hexi stove.

These ones make a little bit of black smoke, not much tho. But they burn a little longer than the original solid fuel blocks my hexi came with. ,,Try some bits of wood cooked in the wax for a wee while. Great fuel rods of fat wood.'' Thanks for the advice, I will try it out.

    Living in the woods

to Robson Valley ,,OK, here's how the local native community lived in winters with real cold (-30C) and real snow (5-15').'' and this is how an other local community build a pit house with almost real cold (only -25C) and almost real snow (30-40cm) just in a few hours.

    Living in the woods

I would not even bother to built a log house. That is a time and tree consuming job. I would just build a pit house, something like this (from 3.30) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p-lfefLNv3U

Oddest things found in the woods?

In Hungary mostly I've found ww2 or cold war era weaponry. The Red Army left Hungary in 1990 and left behind lots of stuff all over in the countryside. I've had a large collection of spent ammo few helmets some belt buckles a rifle's bolt action and few more bits. Older folks told us stories...

What would you do on 10 000 BC

That is also a good way to get what you need! Not really 10 000bc-ish but it should work:)

What would you do on 10 000 BC

To hunt a deer they did not even have to go anywhere far just to the nearest water source. And just wait until any animal come to drink. This is what I would done.

    "dont let kids outside!"

Now this is something I've never heard of. It just shows how much the world has changed in a couple of decades. I was a kid in the late 80's early 90's. I grew up in a small village in Hungary. Then and there we had no computer games, mobile phones or all day long tv programs for kids like...
