+1 for the EasyHammock Winter Hiker. Had it out in down to -7 odd with a Corinthia Defence 4 bag and woke up warm and cosy the next morning. Only annoyance is the bulk as Tony mentioned.
The DD under blanket is rated down to -5 so perhaps you were at the limit of what it could handle. My initial suggestion was going to be a lower rated under blanket but you can also attack this issue with better clothing. I have a Buffalo S6 shirt and wearing it to sleep I have been -5C under...
I can highly recommend the Nemo Switchback. Some reviewers say it's better than the Thermarest Z-Lite. I took mine to every camp until one day trekking through thick brush with it tied outside my pack when I turned around and it was gone, gutted. It has an R value of 2 which I think is great for...
If your after a good no nonsense knife that wont break the bank (£30) but is still extremely capable then you can't go wrong with one of these:

Facebook is not so bad, like most things it depends how you choose to use it. I am a member of numerous Facebook Bushcraft groups which I find pretty helpful in terms of advise. Of course you get bad groups and the "I know everything" users (like most wild camping groups) but if you find the...
I got the Snugpak Jungle Blanket only a few months back expecting it to be a bigger Snugpak Top quilt but in reality it has far less insulation and pack down smaller than the top quilt despite it being 4 times the size. I really can't see it being any good at any temps lower then 10C.
A few questions:
What are the numbers looking like, is it too late for me to get tickets for a few days, was thinking the 29th to the 31st?
Do we have enough spots free for tree dwellers still?
Is a Firebox considered a "ground fire" and not allowed?
Thanks
Thanks for all the recomendations. After the latest "requirement" from the Mrs of a portable toilet in the tent I think im ujust gonna use one of the cheapo blue ones for now. If after 2 trips out the Mrs has no objection to us going camping a few times per year then I will happily upgrade to...
I'm looking for options for an inflatable double camping bed for two persons with a larger build. After something to use for the upcoming Great Outdoors Festival and The Bushcraft Show so we won't have to carry it far from the car and weight is not a consideration.
Does anyone have any...
Mrs has been buying baby food packs for our little one like the ones in the link below. Was looking at it and thought "It's resealable, foil on the inside, folds up small like a piece of paper....im having that as an emergency water carrier for the survival kit." Each one holds about 1/2 a pint...

I use the Snugpak Top Quilt. It's around £30-35 and for me it's good down to around 5C (wearing merino base layers.) In terms of "bang for your buck" for me it's one of my best ever purchases.
Yeah, it's doable but not ideal. Having to do that while using a sleeping bag was the reason I opted for the top quilt route. Sleeping bags and hammocks dont really work well in my opinion, well not the diagonal lay ones anyway as it's so hard to reposition yourself once your in them. Short of...
Just re-iterating what others have said, the longer the hammock the flatter the lie. I'm more than happy with my 11' Easyhammock from BigMonster. Could never go back to ground sleeping now. I think most people who don't get along with hammocks have just only tried the cheaper / shorter hammocks.
