    a wee moan

As I recall (and I'm a bit foggy on the details) a company took images someone had posted on BCUK and used them on their website without permission. The member who owned the images managed to get compensation from the company. I think it was Spamel (long since sent off for bad behavior) and...

    Decathlon kit - worth it?

I've got the tarp, and it's a fantastic setup. It comes with poles, guylines, two sets of pegs, and a decent stuff sack. I've used it plenty of times without hassle. For that kind of price it's certainly worth having.

    Cotton ball/Vaseline technique

Try getting some of the big plastic straws from coffee shops and stuffing them with cotton wool/vasaline. Melt the ends shut, you have waterproof storage that can be cut to length for storage in kits. Cut it open and spark it. The plastic straw burns hot too as an extra bonus.

Smocks. I know I know but...

I prefer my Ventile smock, it's got a nice long zip, and I've never felt I needed more ventilation. The plus side of the smock for me, is that they generally have a tunnel front pocket so I can get access to stuff with either hand.

Landrover? 4x4? We don't need no steenking 4x4

The running joke out here in Saudi is that you'll be out dune bashing in the most up to date 4x4 with the most toys and you'll be passed by a Bedouin in an old chevy caprice classic... :D

M65 combat trousers, can they be beaten ?

Helikon Tex SFU trousers. I have several pairs, (as well as 5.11) and find them every bit as good as my M65s, if not better, and they're only about 25 quid, thats 20 quid cheaper than the 5.11 and they're every bit as hard wearing. Heinnies sell them. clicky

Omg is this a wind up????

I've got a Utilikilt. I wore it to the Moot one year, very practical and comfortable.

Omg is this a wind up????

It was a wind up, 5.11 made one as an april fools joke. However, they got such a positive response, they decided to put them into production. And if you think that's expensive, I would direct your attention to the Utilikilts Survivor. Pair it up with a MaxP Thermite as a Sporran :D
