    Rush cutting sickle/knife?

The hook was sold a few years back and the book was listed in the auction entry Caspall, Fire & Light in the Home pre-1820 (2000), p. 201, Figures 467 & 468. https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/22670/lot/385/ Think I may make one of those boxes. ATB Tom Found another rush hook in a auction...

    Rush cutting sickle/knife?

Picked this up today from Colne Tools where Mike had put it aside for me. Unfortunately I have managed to misplace the photo of the only definite example of a rush knife I've come across from a book on primative lighting that i had to get on inter library lone many years ago and which I...

Wanted Perforated stainless steel sheet to make a trivet to go inside a camp oven.

Nice that some ones selling Hillbilly gear in the UK, I had to get a mate to forward me my 410mm comedy frying pan. Unfortunately the trivet they do is too small for my 15 inch camp oven and I prefer the more holey sort. There's a B and Q in Bury but I don't think I will be going near it...

Wanted Perforated stainless steel sheet to make a trivet to go inside a camp oven.

Information were you got yours would be as good as the item itself here ( and I can live without " google it" Or "Ebay" here ) but I'm looking to make a trivet to go inside a 15 inch spun steel camp oven. Currently I am using a flimsy pizza tray held up on bolts but since postage from Oz is...

The 8kg of Heat Beads we ordered from Dawsons Department Store on Sunday have arrived (Tuesday AM) so excellent service there. I was looking on the interweb for a small pair of tongs for arranging the burning beads on the lids of the various ovens but after seeing some realised i had a...

    What did you buy today?

Popped into the outdoor pursuits shop in Blackburn and picked up for a song a about 45 litre Macpac bag. I've just replaced my bushy daybag and it's quite robust and heavy for its size and not especially well suited to go with my lightweight walking kit so I've been looking for something light...

    What did you buy today?

The grill arrived and I'm pretty pleased with it. OK I'd have preferred if it was made of a excessive gauge of steel, but for no good reason. The edges are rolled which is a nice touch and the slots for the fuel tray are arranged so that with turning the back and side part upside-down you...

Lid for Dutch Army Mess tins.

Cheers folks! Rivets arrived while I was out on a bimble so I've just fixed them on. Not the prettiest job I've done but they are on good and tight. I used a rose bit to chamfer the inside of the holes, trimmed the rivets to size with the rivet cutter I picked up somewhere nand used a 1/8th...

The mitts arrived and I'm very pleased with them. I had the vague worry they would be big on me even with liners underneath but they as spot on, more like large than XL in my reckoning. I could still wear liners but they don't need shrinking. I'll lanolin them when next I do my wool hats...

Lid for Dutch Army Mess tins.

Praise indeed! The urge to faff and the serendipity of finding the old uk tin over came me. I won't show you the abomination of a lid I made for the mk 1 crusader cup. If i'd known what annealing was at the time it may have turned out a tiny bit better... ATB Tom

Lid for Dutch Army Mess tins.

I was waiting for a chap on ebay who makes lids for the crusader mug to put up the auction/sale thing for his mess tin lids but stumbled on a knackered old British issue large mess tin in my scrap metal stash. I knew the Dutch set was slightly smaller than the UK one and a test fit showed this...

From ebay as I can't find cheaper, 100m of 18/3 olive linen thread. Even from there it's painfully expensive but it's what I end for several sewing projects. Should be here Thursday. Atb Tom
