    Loads of hazelnuts

I hear you, but, I'm a firm believer in using a lot of red wine for the dutch oven both, internally and yes, my internals

    Wanted 14/15' salmon fly rod

Hi Matt, 13+ or 14' will do, depending on line rating. Should have mentioned that I'm looking for a salmon rod. Is that what you have? Thanks!!!

Grey's only? I've got some dried boletus left from last year. Would go nicely in a tree rat stew in my dutch oven!!

    Kuksa question please?

Just found a clip on YT where the guy uses dead standing "white pine" which of course is real easy to carve. Perhaps I should start with that one!

    Kuksa question please?

Thank you for that reply crosslandkelly!! I'm just fed up waiting for a bit of birch I've been asking gardeners/tree surgeons and estate workers for months now!! If it wasn't such a crime I'd have gone out and felled on myself!! Never mind a birch burl, seems to be as rare as hen's teeth!!

    Kuksa question please?

I've been scouring both on here and YT for some time but im still no wiser whether to use green wood or seasoned wood? My thinking is... Green wood is more likely to crack/split when it dries but easier to carve? Do people really use water to make carving easier? Would Beech be ok? Once...

    Oh dear, midges.

"Stupidly Simple" works for me. I was wondering about this as I haven't had to apply it so far, here in deepest Northumberland. Thankfully we're not canoeing on my favourite Loch until mid October, Loch Morar!!

    Bird contact

You're all lucky to have tits, weeks, woodpeckers etc out there. It's probably because you're feeding them. I have a bird bath a few feet away from where I take my coffee in the morning and trust me, the blackbirds and spooked don't mind me at all. But this is all the variety I seem to have...

Trip Report Surely Sorley should go sometime.

Sorley up and about in the middle of the night? 6 am? I'd have drowned that little bugger unless he makes decent coffee and bacon sarnies!!!

    Wanted 14/15' salmon fly rod

Just wondered if anyone has got one of those lying about and doesn't use it. My 15 footer has packed up and I'd like a spare rod. As long as the joins are tight and guide rings are ok, that's my only criteria. Don't want to spend silly money like going shopping for Grey or Hardy rods. I don't...
