Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

According to the spec the panels, and the cable connectors, are waterproof to IP67 Waterproof Rating. They've been out in very heavy rain, and some snow, seemingly without issue. They're connected to an Ecoflow Delta Max and batts.

BcUK Photograph of 2023 January Heat

Valhalla, I am coming... [The sun projecting my shadow from the top of Pen-y-Fan (Brecon Beacons, Wales) onto the inversion below back in November 2022. Known as a Brocken Spectre (sic), I believe. Unretouched.]

Preparing for troubled times ahead - Advice on what is needed.....

The supplied stand for the Ecoflow panels, I think, is OK for a few hours intermittent use and gentle breeze. These are some pix of the more rigid frames that I made for my Ecoflow 400W panels for longer term use. The angle is adjustable. The panels are secured to the frames using cable ties. (I...

Potential ban to wild camping on Dartmoor.

Why would that be the automatic result of ceasing game shooting in the UK?

Potential ban to wild camping on Dartmoor.

Some 57 million non-native game birds (mostly pheasant and red-legged partridge) are released in the UK each year. (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/feb/26/defra-challenged-over-unlawful-release-of-57m-game-birds-in-uk) "At their peak, these birds, mainly imported from France...

Surviving Extreme Heat- UK 40° summer days.- climate change related severe heat events

I use Blackcurrant Dioralyte if I'm feeling particularly "burnt out" after a good hike. That doesn't taste too bad. I do try to keep on top of my hydration, carrying a water filter with me, too, for top ups.

Beavers released in Hampshire for first time in 400 years

I think that that film should probably have a PG rating? It's verging on beaver porn! Very nice to see them, though.

    Cumbrian Postal Routes

Interesting. You may find some old routes via the National Library of Scotland's collection of old maps: https://maps.nls.uk You may also find some routes on the Ramblers' site: https://www.ramblers.org.uk/ Some of the Cumbrian postal routes may share their purpose with the old Drove Roads?

    Native Americans Russell Means

I think that we actually reached 8 billion humans at the end of last year. So, perhaps another 3 billion religions need to be initiated, methinks?

    Red light head torch

I have the Petzl Tactikka +RGB that I'm pleased with. If that is too many colours for you they do a Tactikka which just has White and Red lights. I also have one of their Noctilights that diffuses the beam. Quite useful in tent or car and may be of use in a barn or shed with the critters.

Want to stop using synthetic plastic materials while camping.

This vid is Kelly Harlton and Mors Kochanski setting up a couple of blankets for sleeping, and also as a blanket pack: A silk liner may be a good idea inside your blankets: lighweight, squishes down small, and much easier to wash and dry than blankets. Use on its own on warm nights. As far as...

    Forensics

I always enjoy the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures on the Beeb. This year they're talking about Forensic Science. I was very struck by the parallels between the investigative processes and sign demonstrated, and those in tracking. I suppose that, had I thought about it before, I would have...

    Remember the Wild Life.

Not just the media but the Government's own Health and Safety Executive report incidents. A quick search will indicate that both farmers and walkers on PRoWs are killed and injured each year by cattle in the UK. I am extremely cautious about them having managed a small herd myself and been hurt...
