    February wildcamp: A lesson learnt...

Nice article, well written. I could see your excursion in my minds eye.:) I've had a look at your blog which is excellent too. May I ask you, which 'model' of Berghaus pack are you using? And which boots? And have you any thoughts/lessons learned about the gear you carry? Ta in advance.

Living off the grid ! YEAH !

Great video. Reminds me of my great-uncle who lived on a smallholding in the mountains. :) Thanks for sharing. As for metal to made your stove, I would have thought carbon steel would have been the easiest to find and to work but I'm sure someone with better knowledge and experience will offer...

    Leeks

I prepare leeks by first cutting off the root section - just a few millimetres. Then I cut off the top section just below where the greener parts fan out. I then slit the leek lengthways and holding the end nearest where the root was, I dip the other end into a bowl of water and swish it about a...

    First overnighter, what'll I forget?

I'd add a miniature brandy to the list. A little tot before bedding down for the night and the remainder in your coffee next morning. Maybe pack a book, the night starts early this time of year and if you retire early you can have a read before sleep. A wee-bottle will save you having to venture...

A couple of questions about waterproofs

I'll set the scene before asking the questions. I've been busy for the past few months and haven't gotten out as often as I'd like. Today, however, I had a light schedule so I decided to go out for a long walk despite the darkening sky and the predictions of doom on the Metoffice website. I...

Simple drawing software for making DWG files

If it's for a one-off project you might be best getting it done by someone who is used to using CAD software. Is it for yourself or for a company? Is it quite complex or something simple?

    Show us your camper kit

Good advice given already - I can only 'second' the comments re. weight. A few years ago I saw an advert for a camper - I wasn't actually seriously looking for a camper but the price was great so I went to have a look. It was a high-roofed Transit and the conversion had been done by the owner, a...

    Campervan living

Would be great to see how you do the conversion. Maybe start up a separate thread and upload photos as you go along? Would be interesting to see how you lay it out and the build details :)

    leather gloves

I use riggers gloves like these for any heavy work where I want to protect my hands: http://www.screwfix.com/p/keep-safe-superior-rigger-gloves-black-yellow-large/37195 I find them great value for money.

    Tarp tent

I like the string idea. Maybe use a piece of paracord or bank line that you intend to use with the tarp anyway, and tie two knots in it to give you the correct length. That way you are not carrying anything extra.

    Advice re. building a shed

Hi Dogoak, yes I know the bolts into the slab are overkill but similar to what Janne says, I have an inclination to over-engineer things. I also kind of enjoy knowing it's a 'belt-and braces' job. I still remember the story of the 'Three Little Pigs' and don't want any winter storm to 'huff and...
