For ease of transport and so I'm not totally dependent on meths I've been using Coghlans solid fuel tablets hexamine tablets x 24 at £6.50 a box. They are lightweight, excellent for boiling water (one tab only) but can leave external residues. Occasionally I get a 4 box deal for £19.99 which...
I watched the prepping videos for years and often wondered when and how it would happen to me. I've percieved a potential threat to my income so I've formally declared my own **** preparations to be activated. Right now it's about mitigating risk by increasing my contingency. So now for example...
Silverpoint Firefly red led torch, about £15. Very light, weighs 41g using one AA battery. One of those torches that needs a subtle tap to get it going most times. If it stays as it is and doesn't require constant multi taps I'll be chuffed
Don't have a pantry so to consume now and future preps.

Been using a Lifeventure Travel Bottle Shower for years which works OK for a hair wash but I don't use it to body wash. I attach regular bottles 500ml to 2ltr. 500ml is just enough to head shampoo and rinse a short short haired man
Thinking of getting a UK equivalent of one of these garden...
Not easy finding the dried veg in Asda.
I asked one of the assistants where it is shelved and she said "I'll see" and off she went never to return. Undeterred I asked another who said "I'll see" and then took himself off to the frozen pizza section. OK, not today I thought, then unexpectedly out...
Spending a life researching the newest lightest equipment can be contribute to losing sight on the important stuff. I'm leaving my base camp and needed to stash some belongings. I didn't triple wrap them and guess what it's already persisting. I'll be able check the stuff tonight and hopefully...
Exped Flexmat Plus, so impressed. Used for a couple of nights and so far exceeds the 2cm Thermarest Solar. Its so thick that it kinda feels as though you're on your own little island. No side Sleeper hip discomfort. See how it plays out in the future, hopefully it won't compress and lose its prowess
Ordered a Small coyote brown DDTarp instead of the only other viable option, a Viper basha v-cam. The coyote DD tarp is over 100g lighter, has a much reduced pack size, costs less and is of known quality
Frustrated, struggling for some basic kit. I want a lightweight multicam tarp 250 x 170. Every one I see is too heavy or gets bad reviews. Probably going to have to be DD small tarp in coyote. It's a massive compromise but at least it will protect me.
Tailgating on the Karrimor Sabre foam pad discussion. This time it's a 35L.
Thinking of replacing the foam pad which currently doubles as kneel/sit mat with a folding sleeping pad. Anybody done this, can you recommend a sleeping pad that fits whilst maintaining the integrity of the rucksack
Eurohike Adventurer 300 Sleeping bag. Bought for £27 from Millets a couple on months ago in readiness for my current not coping with some winter damp. Roomy, excellent hood, good zips & reasonably liteweight. A design classic
The Karrimor SF Sabre 35l has proved to be an excellent piece of kit. Essentially it's the 30l with two 2.5l side pockets added making 35l which works for me but unfortunately due to this config it doesn't have any compression straps like the 30l or the 45l before you add the zip PLCE pockets...
Personal wellbeing, finances and the reason not to venture out unnecessarily: Ensure that you don't have any addictions to tobacco, alcohol or other substances
Bumping an old thread but I'm interested in these Polish Army Sleeping Mats. Does anybody have any experience of them. I want a mattress for a semi-permament camp but it needs to be sufficiently sturdy to keep me off the ground...
