I've got one of these ponchos. It's pretty new but it already seems less repellent than when I bought it - new, water beaded all over it. Now it definitely absorbs some moisture. As it's a poncho I'm not worried about breathability. Anyone got any ideas? Also anyone got recommendations...

You could be right about the substandard material, Jedadiah. I contacted Leatherman's UK contact and they seemed very helpful. I was told to send the Charge to them and they'd consider replacing it. I went to dig out the Charge and found it had gone walkabout from my bag on the way back home... :(

Nothing too outlandish. It cut a few tomatoes now and then, but was wiped down after. Other than that just regular usage. I didn't think the coastal aspect of the holiday would make that big a difference but I can't think of another reason why I noticed this rust and others don't seem to have...

Just thought I'd bump this excellent thread with a link to DavidS.'s thread about the Highlander Forces 55l which can now be got for under £30 too. This has the adjustable back system which looks like it might be slightly more comfortable than the fixed system on the Forces 44l

Hi there, Does anyone know where you can get the army pullovers in any colour other than OG or blue? This sort of thing: These are tough hardwearing and warm, but the colours are a bit off-putting.

There are lots of threads on the Highlander 44l which is generally held in high regard as a very good value rucksack. The 55l I think was seldom considered because I think it wasn't seen as such good value. I suspect the higher price was not just for extra capacity but also for the extra work...
