Tarp and Sleeping bag - no bivy bag

    1. if it's underneath your tarp/tent fly it's not dew, it's condensation. Moisture from soil and your body raises and condenses on cold fabric. Nothing can be done about it. 2. Tarp without bivvy is a very common way to wild camp. Bivvy is mostly used to add warmth and to protect from elements...

    Exotac-style repair kit

My biggest issue with Ripspol is the needle. My repair kit is a small ziplock bag with tape, glue wire thread and CURVED needles like those (can be bought on ebay or in poundshop): Imagine trying to hand saw a boot, tent or curdura rucksack. Bend needles and my mini multitool to hold it works...

    Which Sawyer water filter kit?

Sawyer says this in their manual. Also watch on YT "sawyer filter disassembly", I don't think I would trust the filter after the fibers have been exposed to frozen water.

    Which Sawyer water filter kit?

    Exotac

In my experience everything ferrorod is very well designed and made. Not a big fan of the novelty items like the sparky or ripspool. But I like that they are trying.

    Exotac

How do you like it? Mine is on it's way. I know BICs are quite resistant to water but after my last jet lighter corroded away overnight after contact with salt water I want something waterproof.

    Firesteel protection

The only corrosion I have experienced was from sweat in my pocket and salt water. Normal water doesn't do anything short term. So all I do is keep my firesteel away from sweaty pockets in the summer. But if you want 100% buy Exotac nanostriker XL and be sorted for life :)
