    EasyHammock shutdown.

Hi guys and gals. Little heads up regarding my little project I have been trying to run over the last 4 years. Due to growing difficulties in obtaining materials and extreme costs of importing all the stuff I need to make my hammocks I came to a difficult decision to close EasyHammock shop. I...

    Firesteel recommendation

They mostly corrode from salty sweat in your pocket or water ingress during storage. Never had a problem with normal conditions in survival tin or desk drawer.

    Firesteel recommendation

Once you try Exotac Firerod you won't go back. The whole concept, fit & finish and ergonomics are great. Very goo quality ferrorod. And after the initial expense the replacement rod are less than a tenner.

Cold Steel Kobun / medium bushcraft use and utillity

Kobun owner here. The handle defo requires paracord wrap as it's very thin, but I think it was designed for it as it works very well and fits in the sheath wrapped. Also the blade looks much better after a little polish with polishing compound (like brasso). As to bushcraft use. It's not the...

Liquid fuel stoves? Diesel, Kerosene, car gas?

Multifuel stoves can't really simmer, it's either full blast or small blast. For clean white gas Soto Muka is currently the best. For best butane/diesel/kerosene etc stove Primus Omnifuel is the best (sujective). Diesel, petrol, kerosene fuels in any multifuel stove are only meant to be an...

    No knife multi tool recommendations

+1 for knifeless leatherman rebar (search for Rebar EDC). Also because of the saw/awl/scissors and weight it makes a great outdoor multittol. It's the lightest full size mt and a perfect companion to your knife.

DD Frontline Hammock as a bivi?

Yes you can. You can use a groundsheet if it's muddy to keep your kit clean. Does the Frontline have the 4 corner loops that help to stake it down? You can make it work but it's not the most comfortable or livable option.

    Tattoos - Yours and Why

3 reasons: - Boredom, dogs paw or butterfly you get in walk in parlor. - Memorabilia, way to celebrate something like birth of your kids or important even in your life. - Expression of yourself/art. For example I love cyberpunk lore and I have a very focused analytical side to my personality...

Powering gadgets - battery banks or solar charger?

Solar panel tech is slowly catching up and it's viable in good sun. But weight per Wh and practicality of the whole setup still favors just the powerbank.

    Big knives

Absolutely not trying to discourage you from playing with a big knife, just sharing my opinions. Big knives are only good for chopping, you won't be able to do any carving, food prep or other camp chores. Also they get heavy real quick and you will more and more often decide to leave that pound...
