I haven't seen this place mentioned? Army surplus - Honiton.

It’s easily ten years since I was last in there and I still have kit in the loft from there that I haven’t used LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Used to be a really good one on the road to Fishguard, you never knew what to expect there from one day to the next and I used to spend a fortune in there LOL Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If I get a Baofeng UV-5R will I also need an external antenna for it? I’m hoping to (when I pass the exam) drive up to the local hills and sit up there and use it until I can get a base station for home. Also noticed on eBay there is a UV-9R model which isn’t much more, is that a better bet...

    Electronic maps

Yes they are usually in app purchases. The idea is you just purchase “tile credits” and then download the tiles that you want rather than having to download entire counties that you might never set foot in. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Electronic maps

I use ViewRanger on a weekly basis and it appears very accurate. I have purchased a lot of tiles for it to get as accurate mapping as possible and it has never let me down to be honest with you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well that’s not expensive at all! I really don’t want to spend a ton of money on hardware and then find I don’t use it so that’s not bad :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    What 3 words

Interesting feedback there Broch. It seemed like a real winner but if the emergency services aren’t really using it then it’s a bit of a waste of time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
