Making baskets out of Tree Needles.

I looked at the thumbnail for that video and thought I'd never have the dexterity for even attempting something that intricate

    Reversible pouch

New zips and fabric arrived today. Sewing ripstop is a bit of a pain as it's so slippery but having a compound feed sewing machine helps. I know some people use tape but I think it makes the needle sticky when sewing through it. I need to increase the bobbin tension, I think, as the orange...

It's burning season - people need to cut wood to make kindling and keep warm! Great offer. Got plenty of hatchets here, though, so will leave it for someone else (who I'm sure will snap it up quickly)

    Reversible pouch

Thanks. I have a Pac-a-mac that does that. It's certainly possible, but not sure of the application. Having a shopping bag that packs into a pouch would be useful but you'd be limited by the length of the zip with a closed pouch, I think. I've ordered some orange ripstop so will see what I can...

    Raspberry Pi Enthusiasts?

I've moved on from Arduino to ESP32 - they're faster, cheaper and have built in WiFi and Bluetooth. I did have 3 RaspberryPi but am now down to one, which runs my gate access control system - that's been a major drain of my time, rewriting my hacky code into more easily maintainable code...

    Reversible pouch

I've just ordered a load of reversible zips (zips are really expensive!) so will give it a go... Gone for #5 zips as although I have hundreds of metres of #3 (cheap off Facebook), the sliders are a pain to deal with. Hoping the #5 will be easier to put onto the coil. That pouch has a #8, which...

    Reversible pouch

Following on from my post about making a hidden seam lined box pouch, I realised the same technique would apply to my normal lined EDC pouches. I don't have any reversible zip pulls (yet) but reckon this has applications if you want to remain stealthy or having something that's easy to find in a...

    Hidden seam lined box pouch

I might do. I'm very glad it turned out that well. I actually cut enough fabric to make 2 of them, but didn't need the second. It's a technique that I'm not sure I've seen online - most of them leave a slit at the bottom of the lining which you have to hand finish and I'm too lazy for that

    Hidden seam lined box pouch

I follow a channel called "thejasonofalltrades" on YouTube - he's an American who does outdoorsy type sewing videos. He recently posted one where he made a simple pouch out of some material he'd had printed, and mentioned that he'd like to make a lined one but hasn't figured out how to do it...

Cheap source of outdoors fabric for various projects.

Can always make stuff sacks with the inner fabric. Good to recycle tents - there are thousands just chucked after every festival. Make some little zipped pouches and list them on Etsy

    Making a dead hedge

Well, after 7 years, despite adding to it, my brash pile/dead hedge was looking decidedly flat and no longer presented the imposing barrier it once was. The willow stakes, despite initially sprouting, all died off, probably because there's not much light in that corner (due to adjacent trees)...

    Man-made vs natural cordage?

I'm surprised about the fire bow - I've heard different but I will bow to your experience. Inner cords are useful, I agree.

    Man-made vs natural cordage?

I have some of the real stuff, from an actual parachute. It soaks up water, it's not very abrasion resistant and it's pretty stretchy. Ideal for parachutes but I maintain not ideal for many of the purposes it's bought and sold for. I still think the popularity of it is due to the military uses...

Shame, DE shaving is the future (and also the past!). It's a nice little compact razor but perhaps I'm pitching it at the wrong market? So, still on offer, a custom made EDC pouch with some goodies inside or The aforementioned razor (good for parts other than faces... :)) or some basket...

    Ed Stafford Forest Smock

Their classic smock, which looks almost identical, is "only" £135. I really like Ed Stafford's programmes, can't blame him for cashing in, I suppose, although he's famous for surviving with absolutely nothing so this all-singing-all-dancing item is a bit ironic

OK, no takers on the EDC pouch. How about this new butterfly razor? Comes with some blades (although in honesty they're not very good but double edged/DE razor blades can be bought cheaply - Astra ones are good).

My knife and leather arrived, thank you. Wickedly sharp little thing it is too! On offer, custom EDC pouch. I'll give it a couple of days then get something else up as don't want to be stalling the thread again!
