Orange Rescue Panel - with Reflective strips.

I'd look at making it big enough to act as a shelter/tarp - sew 2 c.2m strips side by side and seam seal the join. Reinforce the edges with webbing (and/or retroreflective tape), sew loops on each corner and halfway along each side. You could sew/stick reflective tape in one of these patterns...

    Small draw-string bags wanted

Nearly a fiver, though, gets expensive if you need a few. I dug out my silnylon tent and threaded the machine with the green Nylon thread. Having a play with different seams. It's slippery stuff to work with - not my favourite stuff to sew - making a stuff sack with properly hidden edges is...

    Small draw-string bags wanted

If Mesquite can't find his old flysheet, I have some dark green tent fabric I could sew you some bags from - just bought 3000m of dark green bonded Nylon thread too! If that's too dark, I have yellow, blue or orange ripstop

    Holly?

Holly can be used for animal fodder. That's why the leaves on younger plants are so spiky, to stop them being eaten. Look at a mature holly tree and you'll see far fewer prickles.

    Forest Burials

Recycle anything you can, then burn the rest and scatter the ashes in my woodland. That's my memorial. Personally, I don't see the point of hanging onto ashes. My mother-in-law has 2 urns with her former husband and dog within. I made sure my late dog was scattered in the place he loved...

    Waxed canvas offcuts

Really good stuff to sew with as it doesn't fray too badly and tends to be quite stiff so easy to control. Too far for me to collect it, sadly, but one of my favourite fabrics to work with

    Stikkan

Probably not as user friendly, though. I made it from an old Land Rover leaf spring

Handsome looking gadget but too much money for me to invest in. I'll stick to my hand made froe for now

    An improvised firelighter

Sadly it was in a wood burner, so no smell (and I have a bit of a cold anyway so wouldn't have smelt it)

A cheaper way to buy fabric

I have a really nice quality sheet in my fabric box but it's too fine for masks - the one I made from it before is almost impossible to breath through!

A cheaper way to buy fabric

Wanted some cotton to make facemasks with. To buy it by the metre worked out at about £3/square metre. Bought a brand new King sized flat sheet (over 9m2) for just under £10. I don't know if this is something you can get at charity shops (I needed a specific colour as it's for a uniformed group)...

    An improvised firelighter

Got downstairs this morning and it's freezing cold and fire wasn't lit. Turns out that there is no kindling in the house and the nearest stock is 100m away in the barn. Wanted to get the fire going and didn't fancy the trek outside in my jim jams. I've been doing some sewing recently (making...

    Guess the wood...

If it's an absolute ******* to split then you might be right. I was given a load once and my splitting axe just bounced off it. Even challenged a builder to try and he failed too. That said, it does look more like sycamore to me.

Making baskets out of Tree Needles.

Ha! That's what I'd expect! Only had it once (the commercial sweet version).
