    Kydex sheath for Golok

We had Kydex sheaths made for our goloks when we went into the jungle. We used 2mm thick i think and bright orange. Not sure i have any photos of them, we gave them to the tribesmen when we left. we carried them using the fairly loose string around the waist method and letting them hang down on...

    Leatherwork - fair prices?

All good stuff. Also bear in mind there's a difference between entirely hand made and hand finished. A single large stamp could be used to tool a piece and it could be stitched on a machine as opposed to tooling using the small tools hit by a hammer and then gluing and hand stitching in a...

    Leatherwork - fair prices?

I have the same issue Broch. Your covers look very nice. I have made some stuff for friends but to charge a decent hourly rate makes things more expensive than people want to pay. This is one of the last things i made before Christmas. It was a present for a friend. If I'd have charged Brochs...

    Leatherwork - fair prices?

in addition there's also how much do want to sell it for? By that i mean are you a hobby leather worker just looking to cover materials and beer money or is it a business. Corter leather on YT has some interesting videos on pricing goods. It boils down to raw materials (including wastage) +...

Advice on silent camouflage waterproof gear

Silent is quite a big ask. Even natural cottons and such make some noise. Years ago i bought a standard DPM army jacket in cotton, some inner waterproof liner material and some cotton. I made a drop waterproof liner and then an inner cotton liner inside to stop it feeling cold to the touch...

    What 3 words

surely thats the case regardless of the app used? if signal is bad, words can be misheard. numbers would be said as words and could easily mistake someone for being 100 miles away from the true location. that doesn't make the app bad.

what are you making for people this Christmas?

Love the term 'swirly leather! It's standard veg tan leather that I dyed using the shaving foam method. Very effective finish I think. Loads of stuff on YT on how to do it.

Dated dressings - would you use if needed?

Agreed, the date relates to the packaging normally. Having said that it's generally not a good idea to use out of date stuff as a norm and i would prefer not to use it. at the end of the day, if you had to use a scarf or t shirt to stop blood that's what would happen. you can put this in the...

There are some bushcraft groups around the country. Have a look and see if there's one near you.

    Surviving the Stoneage Channel 4

i agree. I enjoyed it although i think there was some editing license taken to add to the story telling. for instance, they didn't get the deer on the penultimate day. But it does tell the story to the viewer well. Even though these people are skilled there is no substitute to getting out there...
