    Laminated picture card translation thingies???

We've spent half the last 12 months travelling Europe, including places like Albania and Bosnia. I was amazed just how many people and countries used English. I commented to one Bosnian guy in his 30's how good his English was. 'we've been learning it since we were 3' was his reply. For us on...

    Making leather footwear.

I've made a few pairs of high leg american style moccs. I used to use them bushcrafting but found the restricting factor was the smooth sole and lack of grip. putting a rubber outer sole helps a bit but not to the extent of a modern shoe. As i wasn't LARPing i moved onto the modern barefoot...

    Cheap wax jackets

When i first started work as gamekeeper at 16 years old my father got me a wax jacket from a market stall. I would ride my 50cc moped half an hour each way in it as well as wear it all day if needed. i reproofed it after 6 months or so and as needed after that. lasted many years and was warmer...

    Mobile network home router recommendations

Sounds like some of the campervan MIFI options might work for you. they are often poered by mains or low voltage (generally USB) Or starlink, very pricey though. we're just looking at MIFI in our van at the moment so will be interested to see how this goes...

Anyone going to the Game Fair as well?

Exactly my thoughts too Wayne. The only day for me to be offsite would be Friday. Sat and Sun being workshop days. The good thing is because i am a BASC member i can get free tickets to the Game Fair. If i don't make it I've lost nothing!

    Wifi Roaming

I've looked into various mobile options for our van and trip. From what i can tell, the main advantage of having an external antenna and wifi on the van is the lack of metal blocking the signal from getting to the antenna. Rather than spend £500 ish and drilling another hole in the roof, at the...

Anyone going to the Game Fair as well?

Just wondered if anyone is planning on nipping over to visit the Game Fair whilst at the Moot? It's at Ragley Hall this year, about 3/4 hour away from the Moot site over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the core day weekend. I might try and nip over on the Friday if i can. Just a thought... Archery - variable range

I would suggest doing one thing at a time. Get so you know and understand how you and the bow works at a set distance. Only then move forward/ back to work on the hold over/ under needed. If you try to change several things at once how do you know what's gone wrong?

Win a copy of Tristan Gooley's New Book - How To Read Trees

I have his other books and this would be nice too. This is our Quince tree. It has lived in the back garden for many years. The flowers are beautiful and the fruit makes a very good jam. We got it after I collected some Quince pears from the woods I used to be a 'keeper on and made some 'Jelly...

    Survival Scarf / Shemagh Combo.

Personally i find the shemaghs a little too bulky when used as a scarf and a little too small when used as a head covering. I prefer a cheche. Made of thin cotton, 5 or 6 feet long and about 2 feet wide or so. It's long enough to wrap round the head and tuck in with some spare to use as a face...

    Anyone using a BCUK Spyderco?

Yes mine does get used a fair bit. It's my go to fixed blade. Custom scales i selected fitted by a good friend. I made the leather sheath. Can't say I've ever had a problem with the blade chipping myself. if i need to break bone i use the back of the blade and smack the bone when under tension...
