    Mystery hammer

At 7oz it looks like a jewellers cross peen hammer or it could be used for model engineering. It's not normal to see a peen raised up like that, it's normally in the middle of the head.

    *The* Gift-It-On Thread

So my submission for the thread is a US style water bottle with pouch, I'm sure you're all familiar with this particular item.

    *The* Gift-It-On Thread

Ooh, dibs on the bow drill cord, it's something I really need to practice. I'll put something up in the morning. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk

R and I Training Smock Green

So after a bit of searching, the NSN comes back as Smock - Windproof. A lot of the searches came back with those words and Royal Marines. A google of "R&I" Training royal marines came up with this link: https://ctcrm.wordpress.com/2016/02/03/210-troop-week-20-23/ It looks like R&I training is...

Best piece of kit purchased this year, 2020.

A pair of the snugpak snugfeet, I've got dodgy ankles and when they get cold I get very restless feet. They're fantastic for bimbling around the house in. If put with a pair of softie trousers and jacket you could sleep just about anywhere.

    Bow Saw Tension

Good Afternoon All, Quick question for the hive mind, and I'm sure I will get a plethora of different responses but, how does one check for the correct tension on a bow saw? For context I've treated myself to a 24" Bahco bow saw that has the typical screw tensioner, I'm guessing it's slightly...

    Decent field jacket

I've picked myself up one of these: https://www.epicmilitaria.com/original-m85-czech-olive-green-field-jacket.html It's a very comfy jacket that keeps the wind and a light shower off. Given the price of it you could try and dye it black. I did make one alteration and that is to put zips on the...

    Woobies

I reckon they would be more useful as a blanket rather than a hoodie, just so you could tuck your legs under. Much the same as we would unzip the Sugpak jungle bag into a quilt. Oddly enough I've spent a week in Garleoch head like this and it was great, it was weird to have a week without rain...

Reuseable food bags designs as per Nessmuk etc - to carry flour, rice, and other powders

It looks like historically they've always used textile bags, this one looks like it just ties up. https://www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/587568 I reckon any canvas bag after the top has been rolled down would work, you could always wax the canvas to make it waterproof. The trick would...

    2021 Summer BushMoot - 26 July - 7 August 2021

Given that the Bushmoot is over 2 week, what would be the best say 4 days / 3 nights to attend? Does it naturally split into a kids first week and an adults second week or in any other format?

    Vargo Ultimate Fire Starter.

Has anyone ever put a check valve on these bellows? That would eliminate the risk, of sucking up hot air, might be handy when teaching kids, the push fit ones would disassemble nicely too...

Who already really needed his First Aid Kit?

Luckily I've never needed the FFD, tourniqet, or SAM splint. I regularly go through plasters, drawing paste, blister pads, tampons (weird thing altitudes and periods, not all members of your group may know about it) and of course tick tweezers and germoline. I think a lot of people think mainly...

Reattaching the soles on surplus German army boots?

Does anyone remember around 2011 when there was a batch of the old style British army boots that kept falling apart? We had about 5 pairs go within one company over a weekend. There may have been an issue with the glue production around that time that could have affected other manufacturers.

    Warden's Knife

Thought I'd best update this thread, on the 16th of Feb baby Timothy was born, now the follow up question is how young is too young to take him out on a wild camp?

    Missing a trick with belts?

I picked up the leather belt that was the wrong size for my trouser belt loops so I'm using that, I do have a few sets of webbing knocking about for a belt kit but they're a bit military for my liking, plus having a leather belt makes it more fun to play around making leather pouches.

    Missing a trick with belts?

Well mine certainly doesn't look that swish but it is comfy and carries all I need, I ended up making the danglers out of an old leather handbag my wife was getting rid of, (dead useful for brass fittings) I think a lot of these expensive ones are just for people who like to do the campfire...

    Missing a trick with belts?

The person wearing it? But yes, that's part of the question, is it just people calling the belts bushcraft belts that drives the price up or is it something else?

    Missing a trick with belts?

I've finally worn out my day to day belt and figured it's time to get another one. I ordered a rolson belt from Amazon for a whole £8, turns out I misread the sizing and it was far to big for my normal belt loops. Rather than faffing about returning it I figured I'll use it for it's intended...

    How small is this !

Well my immediate thought is you could get this with a pygmy marmoset so they could live together, you could have your own godzilla and king-kong. Ideal for those with with dinky flats.

    Candle recommendations

So we can forget the chafing candles as an idea, not great for cooking or for illumination.
