Ban on sale of coal and wet wood.

It is easy to build a couple more nuclear powerplants. That is the only way to satisfy a such increase in demand. Solar and wind would cover your countryside and coast totally. You can go fashionably 'sustainable' like Norway is doing. Then augment the shortfall quietly by buying (Nuclear...

That plus measure the length of it. For the entry in your Bushcraft Journal.

    Pine Martins and Squirrels

Why do they not roll out this all over UK? The parks I visited in the past in London are swimming with Greys.

    Hat recommendations please

Many here look the Tactical look. :) I think an ushanka might be to warm for England. I have two in that style, both animal base, and can only use them on cold Arctic days. You can always put a civilian looking cockade / something on it.

    Hat recommendations please

Maybe more suitable for the average Brit winter? That Finnish site have some exceptional stuff!

    Hat recommendations please

Polyester, so will be perfect in the British rain! If I wore the Red Star, my immediate ancestors, specially grand father, would spin in his grave soooo badly..... The Finnish or Swedish cockade is much nicer. An Ushanka ( Ear hat) needs to have a cockade.

I use a spade/shovel that is narrow. Less effort and better for my infirm back and knee for each ‘dig’. Our so-called soil is incredibly hard when dry, and all bu£he’s and trees produce a huge number of roots. Coconut palms are the worst, hundreds of tough, finger thick roots radiate out from...

    Penny stove won't light?

Maybe not enough O2? First I would check the Meths. Put some on a spoon or similar and light. Should burn nicely. You should not watch those ‘experts’ on YouTube. If the guy in the vid used it in the forest, the floor would have coughs fire. Those ‘wild’ flames heated up the Meths, so a nice...

    Home made Thorn proof dressing?

Rosin? That is interesting. Tar oil was used as air mentioned before. So Retsina makes your stomach more water resistant? :) Ages ago I read they used ‘raw’ sheep’s wool. Stank like h€ll I am sure! I guess just another olfactory dimension/ layer. I imagine that if you are ok with a bit of...

Really need to stop buying knives

I sometimes get confused by the operation of the calculating machines too. I still know how to operate a slide rule, tune a carburettor, rough navigate using a printed map and bake bread. In fact, today I am making a Rye bread, the central Europestani style.

    Pine Martins and Squirrels

If the Martens are hungry and fast - never. :) It has taken tens of thousands of generations to evolve habits and behaviour like this. The environment they developed it for got changed ( transplanted to UK) but they stayed the same.

Designed for the Samurai gardener, the Japanese version of Gentleman Farmer? :) I am usually very positive about most things, but the handle looks positively, awfully uncomfortable to use. Only Japanese seeds and bulbs need to be planted at a precise depth, hence the measuring feature! @Code...

    7.7 quake

We have not had one done by a structural engineer, but a building engineer checked it out carefully. I too went over the house, and garage house too, for example tapped on all wall tiles in the bathrooms, checked the outside walls for cracks, garage floor, everything. Water pipes do not leak...

    Bow Hunting & Buck Fever

It is more likely the freezer goes to ‘off’ position due to a long powercut. Then the ice will melt. No method is perfect!

    Home made Thorn proof dressing?

More is not better though. I basically ended up with cloth reinforced wax. :) The Swedish stuff, you use like an eraser. Gentle rub on, melt in with gentle heat.

Good tip to check if a possible defrosting occurred with the glass, water and coin. We do the same. Good ideas are universal!

    Home made Thorn proof dressing?

The Fjälltäven Wax contain Paraffin end Bees Wax. It is hard. Barbour Dressing contain Paraffin, and some say Turpentine. Semi soft. Both should work on waxed fabrics, but in different temperature ranges. From experience, the Fjällräven Wax is easier to apply. Take Wax block, stroke on...
