    Cloak Wearers - Step Forward

i used to have a wool blanket that i simply cut a hole in the middle to put it over my head when by the fire etc. could easily be cinched around the waist with a leather belt i think. Might make a new one tbh i remember it was quite comfy.

    Replacement Leatherman Blades

I did a warranty claim on an obsolete model (I didn’t know was obsolete) and I got sent the updated version - which was a shame to me as I was a bit sentimental about the old one because of who gifted it to me :( I wish I had kept it as it was only a broken screwdriver blade :( I have done 3...

    A test of splitting technique!

That’s a nice splitter!! I 100% understand and would rather a productive thing like firewood prep (or even a long walk!) to going to the gym, i find it beneficial both physically and mentally - sense of achievement. People will argue ‘oh but you can get the same at a gym, when you beat your...

    A test of splitting technique!

Me to makes light work, and with dodgy knees and shoulders axe swinging is behind me, still I am lucky enough to have access to a splitter whenever I need at a family place. Still cutting it all up and manhandling it all around the place is work out enough!

    Camouflaging an olive tent

Yea me to. My tarp is double the foot print of my single man tent so it makes for a nice dry admin area to sort stuff in etc. I wasn’t convinced at first as it’s more ‘stuff’ to carry but the benefits outweigh that tbh

    Floods Floods Glorious Floods

100% People always say to me ‘i bet you don’t worry about the snow’ My reply is always the same, ‘it gets going when others are stuck but slides just as easily and a kerb doesn’t stop that slide’

    Floods Floods Glorious Floods

You and me are in similar areas (you know that) and recently I have seen people bombing into floods in ‘normal’ cars that I would hesitate to dive into in my wading prepared Land Rover…. You also don’t know what’s in the depths - has that drain grate been forced up, or the manhole collapsed or...

Drawstring problem (on smocks) - has this happened to you? How to solve it?

I had the same with my arktis smock and I got so fed up with it I swapped the cord they use for thin dyneema cord - doesn’t get stuck now, BUT the cord locks don’t grip it so well :( I also shortened them so that when not cinched down they don’t have a ‘tail’ on them I didn’t change the waist...

    prusik knots v's guy tensioners

I use prussiks on my tarp ridgeline for tensioning and like them. I have also used them as a back up device when SRT’ing. Easy to use and grip well

    Fox skeleton articulation (attempt!)

Haven’t done much with my pet fox recently due to various family pressures, but now I am off my feet recuperating from an operation I have had some time to pick it back up again! So I got the ribs mounted. I thought this would be fairly straight forward but god no it wasn’t. Much harder than...

Converting a wood burner to a boiler stove?

Don’t know but would be interested to find out. I just had our wood burner replaced 18 months ago and if I knew then what I know now I would have got one with a boiler in it. :( but I didn’t and I ripped out the old, got new and also upgraded the boiler from oil to gas! Still glad i have it...

    Lowe alpine sting - Weight

Right, I have weighed mine using some luggage scales. Now my scales won’t zero properly so you have to subtract 500g from each respective weight. 1.5kg empty with no side pouches. (Scales reads 2000g) 2.2kg with side pouches attached. Which is the Bag with 2 x side pouches and all accessory...
