    Wow, inflation

I do that with something called a ‘sho flask’ I got cheap on offer with NHS discounts ages ago - works really well, I leave them in the hot water. I use it for all sorts - porridge, stew etc. My wife and I used to eat out atleast once a week (be that dinner, or a brunch or a coffee/cake) now we...

Water collection options for the garden?

Put gutters on your greenhouse and summer house. You can get a device tht will mount near a downpipe on the wall that will then divert the water a much longer distance to fill a remote water butt (or IBC or whatever) No experience of it myself, I just came across it while trying to work out my...

    Worst advert ever

Yeah that’s a fair point. A proper chain sharpener would be fine, but I am not convinced with a round file in the end of a drill lol

    Worst advert ever

What’s wrong with using a normal chainsaw file? Only takes a couple of strokes per tooth!

    WANTED Big bench vice

I probably could, or atleast put you in touch with the bee farmer - I live down south so couldn’t tend them but I am sure you could sort that locally. Let me ask and see if they will give you some

    Elastoplasts and the bother thereof

Glad I am not the only one that refills the ‘single’ use herb grinders. I cut myself the same way doing the same thing - mine was in the web of my thumb though, ruined 2 tea towels!

    WANTED Big bench vice

Free bees basically. A half colony down south runs to about £280. My apiary buddies father is a bee farmer in Scotland and he is giving us as many full hives as we can fit in a van - we are setting up a large apiary down in East Sussex and want to use his bees which have been bred for...

    Paraffin lamp glass cleaning

I third the ‘pink stuff’ I have used it for all manner of things now - including polishing up a stainless steel shaving mirror I use in the shower, we also use it for cleaning out butler sink and the glass on the wood burner etc. it’s excellent stuff

    Mini-Slingshot for nuts

Don’t, I don’t need the encouragement as the wife will kill me! I am always messing around with various HF antennas - I don’t operate from home, only out portable :)

    Small greenhouse what to grow?

Left field suggestion is to take the glass out and store it and then cover it with mesh and make a fruit cage!

    Mini-Slingshot for nuts

I use an arborists throw bag to get a light weight line up - I throw to this height and more to string HF antenna wires up trees etc. took a bit of practice but I found it better than a catapult tbh. A cheap throw bag can be made from air gun pellets and an old sock I have also used a large...

    Tape

I quite like the green fabric army tape, made by scapa Don’t underestimate the usefulness of a normal roll of black electrical tape either

Which is surpringly effective. Particularly in low light outside of summer, where contrast is low. I used to have a nice padded winter jacket in raindrop - sadly I ‘grew’ out of it i

    Terrariums - The outdoors indoors.

yes i have one, my wife got it or my birthday last year - the plants have added about an inch to their size since then - had a couple of false starts where things went mushy and mouldy but i had added to much water initially. now its settled in its nice, i plan to add some woodlice etc in due course

    Beginners kit

without going into details of clothing, shoes, food etc, i would say to start for bimbles in the woods for a day: - cheap mora companion knife to start, and a folding saw like a laplander - then move onto an axe at a later date if you find you need it (i very very rarely need to use an axe tbh)...
