Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

In such cases I would have shown them a Soviet aluminium field bottle and a Russian made copy of the classical German WW2 mess kit. ;)

Yes, always if you buy some kind of plastic equipment you start a competition with it. You have to wear it out faster than it's able to degrade by aging. My impression is that only siliconised Nylon fabrics make an exception from this rule. You are lucky that you can get such stuff from the...

Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

I slowly get the impression that it absolutely doesn't matter what you have if you are used to it.

    Cheap wax jackets

Yes, one has to buy a military Goretex suit of course for working. I recently got an unissued French one for 150 €. That's OK, isn't it? But most of my Goretex suits have been bought used from the German army for round about 75 €. We aren't rich though, that's why my brother has a Defender...

Hello again from the Irish south east!

Hallo from Berlin! Have a look here below! Some clothing may be out of production now because that's an older list, but you get the idea. Lightweight equipment for children: The following packing list was developed for a central European 3 seasons use. We did search for good quality but...

    Cheap wax jackets

When Land Rover was owned by BMW you could get such a 4x4 every corner in Germany. And with it photos of happy people in such kind of outdated jackets. The rich bought them and those who wanted to look like them, originals and copies. Afterwards they discovered that the Mercedes G is simply...

Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

That's why the courteous Brits issue two cups to every soldier. The German army issues two tin openers to everyone though, one at the SAK and one with the cuttlery kit. That happens if the generation Ravioli becomes generals I think. I only wonder why they don't issue a third one in US pattern...

Favourite carry-able cooking pan and favourite mug and why for both

I prefere kidney shaped kitchen equipment: German army mess kit and US Army butterfly handle mug or its French brother, also the steel version. I can't compare it to the Crusader mug though. For two persons I would say the Pathfinder 1,8 litres / 64 oz stainless steel bushpot.

What are your favourite pocket knives?

I used for the last years a Victorinox Climber that convinced me. Because I had to send it to the maker because I managed to bend the scissors, I bought in between the Victorinox Compact that's better for my use, because it has more functions and is nevertheless thinner, nearly as thin as a...

PS: To the belly of the Dutch Sting (Version1 DPM) fit from left to right the following issued British Army pouches (Osprey): MTP Water bottle pouch (1 free loop) MTP Utility pouch MTP Utility pouch (1 free loop) MTP Water bottle pouch. Like that the PALS field is full. Instead of that 4...

Silky Gomboy 240-10 vs gomboy outback 240-8.

Indeed: Straight for precision, concave for speed. These saws are constructed for professional tree climbers, and if you are highly payed to cut wood the whole day and do it often in a rather unpleasant position it's worth every cent. For recreational camping you usually don't need a saw at...

    Hello from Scotland

Hi and Welcome from Berlin! Gear recommendations are sensible if you are missing something or need to replace it because it's worn out or broken, or what you have doesn't convince you at all. Otherwise you should be a bit careful. It looks for me as if some people nowadays accumulate much more...

    Best kit of the year

That's approximately what you have to expect if you nowadays buy a Silva product. Did I already mention that it's Chinese garbage? That's why I recently bought a Breithaupt Conat 4 compass, directly in the factory in Kassel, because it's cheaper there than in other shops. It should work fine...
