    Reduced Combined Sleeping Kit

@StevieE Roughly one can say that the added weight of two or more layered sleeping bags is approximately as warm as a single one of same weight, age and price level. But: If we talk about cheap pure summer sleeping bags the relation between insulation material and other parts of the rucksack...

    mora classic 1/0

I did approximately that with the boys of my scout patrol. We did sew the back and attached in a hole in that seam part a leather strap in figure 8 one circle around the sheath, one around the belt. We had sanded down the handles until they were bright wood and used also bright leather. The...

    New hiking boots, reccomendations

The Meindl Badile looks a bit like a classical heavy mountain boot but has a flexible sole that every good shoemaker can replace easily if needed. That's why I think it's worth the money. I wear custom made boots in my individual measures though. That's not much more expensive than a standard...

    Help me design . . . a sack-carrying rucksack/frame.

Tragebütte / Bütte / Weinlesekiepe is an option that I would choose. That are ergonomically designed plastic buckets with shoulder straps up to 70 litres, so far I see at a short look. You can put a plastic bag as a liner inside, fill it, close the bag, carry it where you want and afterwards...

    Bivvy bag?

Well, the normal sized SF bivvy isn't so big that you can put your clothing on inside. It's a still robust lightweight construction. They offer also a very big version though, perhaps it's mainly longer, look it up yourself if you are interested. But I think it has to be combined with the...

    Down sleeping bags, advice please

The swiss made filling of the UK made Snugpak sleeping bags isn't much more voluminous than cheap down. The in your case perhaps too thin Special Forces 1 has a pretty wide cut but doesn't have much more packing volume than cheap and rather narrow down bags that I have compared to it in a...

    Sleeping bag on a budget

The zipper sledges of my SF1 and SF2 stay in place, it doesn't matter where I put it. A central zipper is very nice because you don't get with a bit open sleeping bag a cold shoulder independent from the side you sleep on.

    Bivvy bag?

Well, the standard Snugpak SF bivvy bag is wide enough for a 95 kg heavy man who is 185 cm tall, in padded army suit in SF2 in SF1 sleeping bag which are together warm enough alone down to -20 degrees and wide enough that you can keep your boots on if you should like that or need that, whyever...

    Vegetarian/vegan camp food?

Nuts and chocolate come to mind. And of course noodles with tomato sauce. Muesli as well. Cookies too. Most people don't need all kind of nutrition every day. So, if you just talk about a short trip you probably don't need to carry all what's theoretically needed.

    Mug for Nalgene

The 100g Primus gas cartridge fits exactly upsite down into the Decathlon Quechua 400 ml steel mug, the bottom ring stays outside that you can get it back out, because it has a wider diameter. That cartridge fits with spare space into the Toaks 750 ml. I don't expect the Nalgene 1 litre bottle...

    Bivvy bag?

Guten Morgen! A bit late to the party, sorry! MFH is like Mil-Tec a German trade brand that offers very bad Asian made equipment in army stile. The best military bivvy bag is the Carinthia Goretex sleeping bag cover with gas permeable technology called fabric. Only this one currently allows...

    Mug for Nalgene

If you don't need the bail, Tatonka offers a slightly higher one, 850 ml or what? GSI offers lower ones without bail, rather a big cup than a pot. Tatonka too. A hanging pot over wood fire works much better than a cup that you just put at the side, especially if you want to cook and not just...

    Victorinox, which model?

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gottfried_Keller As you see, Swiss have such family names. Migh be the previous owner, might be an enterprise. Keller translates to English basement. Hun has no meaning in Hochdeutsch, might have a Swiss dialectical meaning that I don't know. Honey basement is...

    Mug for Nalgene

If you run out of bought and carried fuel you will be happy about the bail at the mug. The Bushcraft Store in London sells such a thing in steel, Lixada has a similar one, 750 ml too, if it isn't exactly the same, what you Brits might research better than me, especially as you meet each other...

    French mess tins (Incomplete)

I think that mess kit is approximately WW2 era and not rare. But I have never seen the insert, and this could be rare. I suggest to call a militaria trader in France and ask about the monetary value of the insert.

Swiss Army Knife repairs. USEFUL INFORMATION

I recently payed just 8 € for the same service in the Victorinox owned shop in Cologne, approximately 200 steps away from the cathedral. Didn't yet come along to pick it up though, but if I remember it right they even offered to send it to me.

    Cheap wax jackets

@Suffolkrafter G1000 contains 65 % polyester fibres that of course aren't water proof like a tightly woven and swelling cotton fabric that's on top even waxed.

Welcome! I think that the closest military surplus shops from you are located in Poland an Finland. Unsure if it will really matter regarding the prices if compared to often cheaper German shops...
