Hi Chas,
Unfortunately, the day the trap arrived my friend was towed off to hospital and after a range of interventions is still too ill to have even opened the box it came in and I doubt he ever will now. I'm not known for my tact, but even I reckon it would be a bit heartless to crack on and...
It was just a bit of fun and a time filler really. It needs properly finishing. The last one I made properly, out of hawthorn I think and it lasted over five years, but letting my nine-yearold grandson tend the firebox last summer on a camping trip saw the tines reduced to mere stumps.
I've had them in a few times because pigeons grub about after the stuff scattered from the feeders and make easy prey and yes, I've seen them chasing birds and the like before now, but this is the first time I've had one pop in the shed for a rummage which makes me think it was a relative...
Gorgeous day today and at half seven I got a text to say RM were going to deliver a couple of parcels - Buggeration!
Grumped about a bit after taking the dog out for a short walk and then decided not to waste the day and got a bit of sewing done that I'd been putting off, but sat indoors...
I’m surprised no-one has yet mentioned the most obvious way of going lighter and that for many of us would be knocking chips, beer and pies on the head for a week or two.
This doesn’t involve buying expensive titanium or rucksacks with all the longevity of a Lidl carrier bag that sets you back...
+1 to Osprey, but take a look at the Lowe Alpine offerings too, as they have come on a lot of late and while they may not be quite as light, they offer similar features and comfort, but appear made of more robust materials.
Yes please to those. :)
In return I’ll offer up a Mil-tech poncho liner. I’ll add pics in the morning, but it’s never been used and is this in ACU Digital Camo

I use it all the time on my allotment and garden as I am walking distance from the beach. To be honest, I don’t even wash off the salt. I also learned a neat trick from a friend on the allotments and that is to spread it and spread it thick, but before digging or rotavating it in, run over it...
As per the title really. If you have one going unloved that you’d like to rehome in return for PayPal tokens.
In an ideal world I’m after one in the Mk1 flavour and in orange, but beggars can’t be choosers. :)
My Weber would appear to have found a new home with my youngest Rich  and this will be more portable for the beach and camping, as well as the odd afternoon meat-fest for me and Berwick in the garden on that rare day that passes for summer. :)
I’ve several pairs of bins, but they are a bit like cameras. The big DSLR, huge lenses and tripods will deliver the goods, but will you hump it all about and have it with you when you need it? I have a little pair of Leica Trinovid 8x20. Stunning clarity, with me in my coat pocket 90% of the...
