Suddenly not allowed to post pictures

@Woody girl I think you have two problems. First, posting pictures from your phone. That picture you just posted proves the problem is not a with the forum, but something to do with your photos taken recently. I would bet money there has been a quiet Update that has changed the format your...

Suddenly not allowed to post pictures

You are not, by any chance, using an apple device camera? I had a new phone, and had it set for what it said was best quality...which used HEIC extensions on the photo files, instead of JPG or JPEG, which no normal system can read without a converter. Apple PITA! "You can disable HEIC on your...

    Ticks

I have the OTom green plastic crowbar thing in my little first aide kit. I aim to be carrying that in my bag every day to work and whenever I go for a country walk. I have needed it only once, having had a tick attach to me after I disposed of deer butchering bits. However, I got bit by a...

What is an every day carry really when you get down to it?

@Keith_Beef Meh....I visited a gun show once in Kentucky where they were asking everyone if they were carrying any guns on the way into the show....apparently bringing your own gun to the show was frowned on! As for the EDC being originally about guns, I disagree. While folk in the US may...

Sold Hill People gear medium waist pack / DROPPED PRICE

Your one month membership to sell has run out, so you can no longer create or edit threads in the Classified area. Fixed for you. Congratulations on the sale! I have one of their M2016 packs, and lots of pockets, so didn't make an offer on this, but they make very nice kit!

What is an every day carry really when you get down to it?

Errr, no, that interpretation is the opposite of what I meant. That is why I said there is no acronym to cover it! If I thought that day to day pocket content was covered by EDC, I would have said that it was. One school of thought is that language and words are better used with...

What is an every day carry really when you get down to it?

Every day, all day, in my trouser pockets, I carry Key ring with house key, whistle, peanut lighter, Photon light, Tritium fob, sliver gripper tweezers. SAK Camper or Huntsman Another knife, single blade, good steel. When at home this will lock, when away from home this will be a sub-3”...

What is an every day carry really when you get down to it?

Hi Paul, it sounds like you are having trouble with what “every day” means, because you are listing stuff that is “on the days when…”. Every Day means exactly what it says on the tin. Every. Day. The most variable is “every day when I…” which allows for people to carry different stuff...

    Air pistol for Squirrels?

I can well recommend this one: https://honest-food.net/squirrel-stew-recipe-paprika/ Served at the pot-luck meal at the Moot one year under the heading "long tail tree chicken stew" using par-boiled and boned squirrel. Entire pot was emptied.

    Air pistol for Squirrels?

The top way for squirrels seems to be feeders and hides. I recall some articles from years ago on use of pistols, but they all had shoulder stocks fitted to improve accuracy. I would probably work on a slingshot and 10mm lead balls ahead of an unsupported air pistol! Squirrels are tough critters.

    Some recent kitchen knives

Cheers everyone. Much appreciated. The boning knife is getting a lot of use, slicing bread and ham daily for packed lunch sandwiches. The other two are getting less use, but some. I have two earlier paring type knives in O1 so there is competition for that slot, while the boning blade is...

Silver Anodised Kettle leaving blue-grey residue all over my hands

Yup, that isn't anodised. It is just new aluminium. It needs to age to develop an oxide layer. I had the same thing with a loft ladder, it did eventually stopped making my hands black, although it I hold it enough with sweaty hands it still does a bit.

    G10 fibre glass sheet A5

Like all hand saw work, saw next to the line, not down the middle of it. Use thumb nail of non-sawing hand as a fence guide when you start the cut. Saw at a low angle to the work so that the kerf you cut helps to keep the blade straight as the cut progresses. Also, less vibration this way, and...

    G10 fibre glass sheet A5

Okay. Flash tutorial coming up. Max cut length 240mm in one go. Hand hacksaw Double sided tape Masking tape Piece of straight wood at least as long as your cut. Clamp of some sort, I had a G clamp to hand. I am sure you could manage with just more double sided tape if you had to. I am cutting...

    G10 fibre glass sheet A5

You what now? Glass cutter!?! little glaziers tool with a wheel for scoring glass? Or do you mean a tile saw? Bending carbon blades?!? Hacksaw blades? Cannot picture what you are doing. Stuff like this, I think you need to figure it out so you can do it yourself.

    Some recent kitchen knives

Boning knife. AEBL at around 62HRC. Stabilised dyed ash that I harvested myself with black paper Micarta. Handle was shaped 100% on my belt sander, which was a first for me, where I usually spend 3+ hours with a file. Superglue finish, a little sliperier than I like, but it really brought out...
