Most durable/long lasting waterproof jackets (without maintenance)

I have a BCUK ventile jacket, that I have had since around 2008. It had holes appearing at cuffs and other points probably by 2012. I have a Paramo from 2001 which has no wear holes yet anywhere. So while Ventile has an (alleged) waterproof effect by the nature of the fabric, the fibres are...

There is certainly an excellent arguement, when one is new to all this and still figuring out what you want, like and need, to taking a big sum of money and splitting it to get a couple of slightly different knives so that one can compare. Or at least, I think that sounds like a good...

Yes....but that WAS a Bark River :naughty: Will be interested to hear how you get on with the M4. I like mine, even if it is thicker at the spine than I usually prefer. This higher grind was the second iteration. Meanwhile on my AEBL custom, I ground 0.75mm off the blade height at the edge...

Grabbed a photo of my M4 with my version of convex ground edge. Mine is a bit higher than Longstrider’s, and involved a refinish of the primary bevel too.

You call it abstract, I call it unclear. I was certainly puzzled. Bare link bombing is rarely good communication, but doing so as a Reply to a specific person implies you are addressing that particular person. That is how other people will read it. Its like turning to face someone, giving...

Please explain. How is pointing at a Rokka in N690 related to Benchmade discontinuation of their Puukko 200 or remaining stock of their Leuku 202 at Heinnie? If you are suggesting the Rokka to Mugen, you should reply to one of his posts rather than mine. Given the steels under discussion, how...

    Blades on a Plane

I flew out of Heathrow for years with a small Ruike folder. There is a rule for sub 60mm (I think, don't quote me, check), so small SAK can be okay. Different airports, different rules. What is fine flying out from London to New York would get confiscated flying back from New York to London.

Sorry, I have no experience with Elmax, but... Have you been on https://knifesteelnerds.com/? Good place for steel comparisons. Lots of comparison videos are a long way from scientific or even consistent, and I have seen the guy on Cedric and Aider do some incredibly dumb things under the...

I should mention, I own both a BM Puukko 200 and a Magnacut M4, and both required the edge to be ground back to a lower angle (I convexed them) in order to cut wood. So, in addition to the knife you should budget for some suitable sharpening gear. Black, blue and red DMT hones or equivalent...

None of the knives you list are chopping knives. If you like the Puukko, and the F1x, have you looked at Lionsteel? The M4 even comes in Magnacut…although not many handle options left by now...

    Dutch army bivvy upgrade

Z grade? https://www.surplusandoutdoors.com/hopped-bivvy-bag-dutch-goretex-739298.html Reads as pretty broken down and good for nothing but fabric. Although, I think you are crazy looking for heavy GoreTex breathable dpm for a little fly sheet just because you want the colours to...

A new member attempted to post this in Wayne’s Alan Blade PackPal Wanted thread. Obviously a scammer. I was thinking that they might like to receive marketing mails from companies that got hold of their email address somewhere  We usually remove email addresses from posts so they...

Sold Carving tool clearout - Final Price Drops

I concur with @Slincer89 . I have an axe that shape, I am right handed, it was sold by Woodsmith as right handed, and the axe as shown allows a right handed person to cut very parallel to the wood when hewing downwards. It has less chance of glancing off at low angles. It is debatable whether...

Felt like archaeology finding this one: https://bushcraftuk.com/community/threads/stropping-compounds.136787/ I haven't changed my views much since I posted in that thread. Still don't much like the wax bars due to glazing. As for DIYing based on what people did of yore....people of yore...

Bushcraft licence to and from the Moot to a place of Residence !

My pal Jed told the story of being on his way to Gulf War 1 and getting severe hassle from a RMP because he had a 6" knife on his web gear! Bearing in mind he was also carrying an SA80 and related stuff on the way to a war zone, the absurdity was not lost on him! Reckoned the guy had been...
