Beginner Bushcraft Knife and Axe recommendations

If you get a cheaper axe (and why not) get a decent file and diamond stone thingy (I got a 4 grade diamond in b and q, 200, 300,400,600 grit) take cheap axe and sharpen it. Do some Google work for 'old time' American woodsman info, that will give you some info on sharpening axes. It's best to...

Vegetarian, gluten free freeze dried camping meals

Tent meals sell the hard to get components so you can make your own stuff up. Things like cooked dried rice, tomato powder. Dried mushroom and spices easy enough to get from shops. Might be worth looking at.

    It's too hot.

30 odd in the sun here, but just had new radiator put in, so had to run the heating up for 30 mins at full blast in order to get the new inhibitors round the system properly. House was roasting after that

No probs, if you know electronics you will have spotted the issue with the RGB light. I struggled for room for the resistors so I had to stick it on the common anode. As a result you can't have white as it can't pass enough current.

Glad it all got there ok that cyflect stuff is fab, I used to stick it on the back of my daughter's winter coat to act as a light reflector/glowing panel. I've turned the non-sticky version into zip pulls. But you can make velcro backed dots etc to stick on kit/bags etc

    Amateur Radio Operators, Beginners Advice?

I keep starting to try and learn morse code, I get so far then drift away. I've started to do the 'lockdown morse' course on YouTube so I'll see how I get on with it. Most of my radios are in a storage box in the attic. Including a Hendricks PFR3B which should be good for outdoor stuff.

    Amateur Radio Operators, Beginners Advice?

You just need a simple scientific calculator, nothing fancy to handle the exponent. However if you are confident with handling powers yourself 'manually' then a kiddy calculator will do. For what it's worth, I took a standard Casio sci calculator to all 3 exams, and never used it, I did all the...

    Portable solar panels, batteries, advice

The little DC DC boost converter are ok, I have several rated at 2amp out and a couple of bigger ones that are 10amp out. However, you need to remember that it's a case of power in-power out with some losses for converting. So if you are putting out 2amp at 12v, then you will be pulling more...
