    The Great Tommy Sleep Out

I will still be taking Henry camping this year, and I will look to do the Great Tommy Sleep Out next year. Hopefully we get some better weather soon because it's been horrendous.

    The Great Tommy Sleep Out

Thank you, very kind. I decided not to bother this years as literally, I think it's rained every single day in Wales for months now :lmao: Sorry for such a late update, I have small garden centre/nursery and have been busy getting set up for the season.

    The Great Tommy Sleep Out

Yes, it's to raise money for veterans. You can literally camp out anywhere and in whatever you want any time during March. You sign up with RBLI, get sponsors and you get a free beanie hat. I own a small piece of woodland, and there are plenty of mountains and woods in Wales, so finding a...

    The Great Tommy Sleep Out

Is anyone taking part, or has taken part in The Great Tommy Sleep Out? I fancy taking part with my son but the weather has been so awful and I'm also hesitant to ask people for money in the current economy,

What are your favourite pocket knives?

No, the tab can certainly be replaced. It's basically a thin, flat piece of metal about 30mm long with a slight bend in it which acts as a spring. I'm hoping that Kizer will send me one, or a few. Alternatively, I will fix myself. I have a milling machine at home if required. It's just finding...

What are your favourite pocket knives?

I absolutely love the Zipslip but I must warn you, This is the second Zipslip I have had, and on both of them, the metal tab that acts as a spring to to keep the blade open (not lock) snapped. The first one I had the knife replaced and decided to upgrade to the Titanium version and when it...

    WW2 Field Morse Code Machine

I found this at the back of my gramps garage today and he said I could have it. I don't know a lot about it, I thought some here might be interested in seeing it.

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

I bought me, my girlfriend and my son some of these Peter Storm mid layer fleeces from Go Outdoors last week and they're really quite nice. At £10 for adults and 2 for £12 for kids, I think they're bargain worthy...

    Recent Walk 2

The first 3 photos is Aberporth and the others are of Tresaith, or the coastal path between Aberporth and Tresaith. The photo looking over the cliff edge is a little cove on the coastal path near Aberporth and is a popular place to jump from and it's (unofficial) name is 'Ogof'

    Recent Walk 2

I have spent half of my life down here. I was born in South Wales but West Wales is my true home. We've been blessed with great weather and we've had a wonderful time. We have been on the beach every day and I've been able to use the Kelly Kettle numerous times. Even my girlfriend has become a...

    A New Kelly Kettle

What about a wire handle instead? This would solve the bulky handle issue?

    Recent Walk 2

Still having a great time. I managed to limp down here with a misfire in cylinder 3. Took to local garage and looking like it will be fixed Tuesday. We were supposed to go back today, but I'm secretly happy we get another couple of days here. Not looking forward to the repair bill, though. I'm...

    Industrial sewing in Manchester

Where the straps are attached to the body of the backpack I made, in places there must be 4 layers of 16oz canvas, interfacing, a strip of leather inside the straps and 2 layers of webbing. It was touch and go on these sections, but it did it.

    Industrial sewing in Manchester

The only thing my little Singer has failed on so far is sewing through 2 layers of leather. It'll sew through 1 but not 2. It sews through 4 layers of 16oz cotton canvas without too much of a struggle.. The machine in question..

    Industrial sewing in Manchester

You could buy a second hand sewing machine for probably less than what it will cost you for somebody else to do the work and then you can make any repairs/modifications you want yourself. Just a thought. I needed a few repairs made to an old French army tent so I looked on Facebook marketplace...
