The 'I've found a bargain' thread

You could buy some elasticated fabric and make it bigger?

    What is this?

This is up a local hill. I'm guessing it's for some sort of surveying equipment but it's not at the highest point of the hill.

The 'I've found a bargain' thread

Yes, Sofirn are my favourite torch company, too. They offer the best value for money, imo. I recently upgraded my Sp40 to an Hs20. The high cri flood on the Hs20 is soo nice for reading at night.

    New MFT Camera Day

Here is a 1 second exposure handheld at 42mm (84mm equivalent). It's not bad, especially as I don't practice handheld long exposures.

    New MFT Camera Day

I have a Nikon D700, which is a bit of a tank. The Olympus will allow me to take a proper camera with me on trips.

    New MFT Camera Day

I wanted something smaller and lighter to take hiking & wild camping so I looked to Micro Four Thirds and bought an Olympus E-M5 ii and a Panasonic 14-42mm lens. They only arrived today so haven't had chance to get out with it yet but I quite like it. Will be looking to add the Olympus 60mm...

    Walkie talkie radio question

A ham radio could tune to channel 4 (446.04375MHz) and you might pick up that signal from a further distance due to the higher power and better antenna setup of the ham radio, but that would be illegal to do so on the part of the ham radio operator so can't see somebody transmitting their call...

    Farmer sprays cyclist wild camper.

Both are in the wrong. Camper didn't have permission to be on the land and the farmer acted immaturely and unprofessionally. I do sympathise with the farmers, they work long, hard hours and ask any landowner and they've likely dealt with trespass numerous times. It's only so many times it can...

    Educational water treatment series

He has some other interesting myth busters, like blowing up your inflated mat with your breath reduces it's R value (which in his opinion is false). His channel is really worth a browse.

    Educational water treatment series

I came across this series on water treatment by a YouTube channel that I had not heard of before. I've so far only watched the first episode on boiling, but he seems quite thorough in his experimentation, research and explanation. I'm looking forward to watching the rest of the series and...

    Lightweight cook setup

I told myself I would never be a weight wennie, but I guess it always was the inevitable next step in this kit addiction. It will help though, especially when I start taking my son with me. I recently loaded my rucksack for the 2 of us for one night and it weighed in at 23kg. I'm strong enough...
