Brisa Kephart? Or something else from Casstrom or someone else?

I have a pretty Casstrom No. 10 in Curly Birch flat ground on its way to me along with an Orange Kansbol! Thanks everyone!

Hultafors Heavy Duty Knife GK or OK1/OK4?

How do the stainless Hultafor Heavy Duty and carbon steel Hultafor OK1/OK4 compare to each other? I think the OK1 and OK4 differ just in their handles and I'm curious if anyone has a real preference or reason to prefer one over the other. And, how the stainless and carbon steel versions...

Percolator thoughts? Good, bad, other? Which one to get?

Percolator: https://www.coleman.com/grills-stoves/kitchen-essentials/9-cup-percolator/SAP_2158002.html Regarding the Aeropress and Moka, yes you can certainly use them to make a more traditional Americano if that is your thing. Personally, if out and about on a trip camping or otherwise...

Percolator thoughts? Good, bad, other? Which one to get?

I do try to drink 3 to 4 cups of coffee (~1L or ~1qt) in the morning when out so, quantity is part of the issue I traditionally overlook, and that is why I look for "easy" to make or larger quantity options. Hydrate or Die is the Camelbak mantra but, whether on the farm as a kid in Oklahoma or...

Percolator thoughts? Good, bad, other? Which one to get?

An Aeropress is a good option too if bulk isn't an issue. It is pretty light too if you get the travel version. The downside can be keeping the little paper filters available in good condition from a travel kit or backpack. Plus the amount of coffee produced is a bit small, at least for me.

Percolator thoughts? Good, bad, other? Which one to get?

I use a Moka pot at home occasionally but, not when camping. Just too much gear and kit. A percolator is reasonable due to the flexibility to use a lot of different coffee types and, I have been known to put other stuff inside it for travel reasons. In terms of coffee grounds in a cup or pot...

Percolator thoughts? Good, bad, other? Which one to get?

Thanks! I have heard good things about those in the past. I had long ago forgotten about the brand though. French Press ground coffee can be a bit hard to find though where I go so, part of the attraction with a percolator is being able to use coffee commonly found in prepackaged "drip...

Brisa Kephart? Or something else from Casstrom or someone else?

I gave one to my Nephew who just graduated high school and he really likes it. The FS2000 seems to have the same blade as well. I will have to think about this one some more though, I'm looking to get something a bit more compact and more durable than a Kansbol.

Brisa Kephart? Or something else from Casstrom or someone else?

I am looking for a good servicable knife for reasonable camping activities. I don't want to end up with a rusty mess trying to dice a potato for a soup or stew and I don't want to 'mash' stuff instead of of cutting it for the soup or stew. Then there are general cutting injuries to consider...

Brisa Kephart? Or something else from Casstrom or someone else?

To me, carbon vs. stainless is mostly about rust resistance when used in wet or humid conditions. Alloy steels open up a lot of complexity in the description of the differences IMHO, far beyond the simple applicability of use in wet conditions. The Spyderco Salt series hit this description...

Brisa Kephart? Or something else from Casstrom or someone else?

I can get a Brisa Kephart for ~$120USD from Lamnia so, that sent me down the rabbit hole looking at Casstrom options like the Lars Falt ($155USD) or Woodsman ($135USD). Then there is the No 10 series (~$120USD or so depending on handle material mainly) which offers 14C28N as a blade option to...

Here in Texas (USA) the Dragonfly population is up this year compared to years past. Not huge but, a noticeable increase.

Yak 'wool' beanies and such? Where do you find them? Or ...

I have tried Alpaca and Cashmere socks and similar accessories off and on through the years with mixed results. Generally, I ended up settling on good quality "no itch" sheep wool with Icebreaker being a favorite brand for things like longjohns and vests. I am interested in Yak wool/"down"...

    Problems with "server errors"?

Got back on. Not sure what the glitch was. Must have been a Javascript error or something since I cleared things and retyped it and it posted. I tried adding a Smiley and it was enormous as well, like several hundred times the size of the text!

    Where are the butterflies?

DCA, Drone Congregation Areas, are usually up high in the air where I live. Surprised they are on the eaves of a house in the UK.

Where have our butterflies gone? Not a good sign for our gardens with no butterflies or bees.
