    EDC - Money

I sort of do that, I don't barter as such but give stuff away such as plants, logs, honey etc and get given stuff in return. I was thinking more along the lines that if we reach a point where cash is worthless would gold be any more use as you can't do much with it.

    I dont know this tree

Better pictures would help, especially of the seed pod. If it's not a small cone then its not alder. It may not be native, it looks a bit like the non native beech, Nothofagus.

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

Do you have a photo of a dead bee? Any answer might depend on one what bees you have.

    Limited Canned Goods.

For emergency use cooked, tinned pulses are more useful as you don't need the time to soak and the energy to boil, rinse and simmer dried pulses. I often wonder how much money you save with dried vs tinned? I was going to raise a similar point with rice, brown is far more nutritious but takes...

    EDC - Money

I tend to carry cash and cards. Cash as I go to various legit places that seem to prefer cash and two cards as over the years I've had the odd problem with one, so one Visa and one MC is useful. As I don't go shopping often I carry also carry cash in case the cards don't work. It rare but I've...

    Po-tay-toes.

As has been said, they need a bit of air. My parents used to keep them in a large paper sack although I'd want to keep them in smaller sacks to stop a rotting spud spreading. You also want to store dry and sound tubers. I have found over the years variety greatly affects long term storage and...

    What are you growing?

I've grown them several years ago with some success. I tried four varieties and, IIRC, T65 did the best as it was a variety bread for our cooler climate. I also recall that you get bigger tubers if you grow the plant up something, if left to trail it will root and may not produce large tubers.

    What are you growing?

It seems this year I'm mainly growing slugs, and snails. Lots of them and fat ones too.

    Government emergency website

I wouldn't say keeping three days worth of food is prepping and from my experience I wouldn't say it has much to do with class or wealth either. I half wonder if it's genetic.

    Government emergency website

I don't think it's aimed at what I would say are normal people, people who might have several days of food and drink in the house. It seems to be aimed at people who have nothing stored at all, not even a single dinner. The government doesn't want to be forced into helping people who can help...

    Government emergency website

It should just be a bit of common sense but it seemed to be hyped up into something daft, with claims of shortages and interviews with prepping shops. It seems to recommend keeping 3 days supplies of everyday items and a few extras such as bottle water.

    Cutting and tidying pampas grass?

If you intend to keep the grass growing then burning whilst the plant base is wet would seem wise, and also take care of the fire from spreading. I would have thought a decent hedge trimmer would allow you to cut back much of the old grass blades and the old flower stems.

What beekeeping related activities did you do recently?

How's everyone's colonies doing? As ever, it's been a funny old start to the year. A couple of weeks ago the NBU were sending out starvation alerts and after a couple of days sunshine most of mine need their 2nd super.

    Sonic Repellent

Well, they put me off as I can often hear them and find them rather annoying. Mind you I don't often gnaw into people's houses or use their veg beds as a lavvy.

    CCTV long range

Thanks for the replies. I'm still after a simple guide, I can search for terms etc but would prefer something that gave a good outline. For example, I know you can send power down a lan cable (having search on the terms injector and splitter) but is there a limit? I gather there's a 100m limit...

Battery generators - what & why?

Thanks for the reply. At the moment I'm just looking for ideas and being a bit nosey as to what people use them for.

Battery generators - what & why?

I would be interested to know exactly what the refurbed items are as there seemed to be quite a few refurbed items which put me off to be honest as I assumed they were returns.
