    Lofting a down item

Not long. For one it’s not good business for things to sit on the shelves for ever, cash flow is everything. How many times have you gone to a store for an item for them to say “we don’t stock those because we don’t sell enough of them”? Not only that, down items are usually shipped in...

He seems to run into this problem pretty easily. Which does prove your point, I guess he’s hoping people are generally more hospitable than hostile. I guess we will see.

    Adventure starts…

YouTube recommended this video to me this morning. I enjoyed it, and I’ve thought about this concept myself in the past. It might be fun to have a go at this next summer, I got to thinking about directions and equipment. So what would you do? Where would you go? And what would you take?

    Woodstoves

I have a Charnwood C4. Made on the isle of white by a lovely family who happen to be friends of friends. I bought it ex display at the end of season so managed to get a decent discount too. Start your wood prep now though! And fill every orifice you have with spare firewood…

    Woodlore clone recommendation

The Lars knife is ok, it’s pretty thick though I think around 4mm. Have you had a look at the brisa trapper? Used to be called enzo. I’ve had one for years now and I find it’s perfect for me, I’ve tried all sorts and just keep coming back to it.

    There will be mead

I actually remember reading somewhere that bees can get addicted to certain types of flowers. I’m sure one of the main contenders was Himalayan balsam, which aids the plants invasive nature I guess. I think it’s something about when the bees come back to the hive they share information about the...

    Aquarium owners.

Paul, you did well there on tetras. They’re actually one of the most difficult fish to keep, they usually don’t like any changes to their water. With this tank I really want to try cherry shrimp just because they look awesome. I hear what you’re saying about “cycling” the tank but if your...

Nice job. I love the way the clownfish is posing for the camera! :lmao: What’s the plan to reduce the anemone then? Do you just pluck them off or would that damage the corals?

Since the last thread about terrariums went so well I thought I’d start a thread about aquariums, as I’m sure there must be a few fish keepers amongst us. I set this tank up for my daughter yesterday, and quickly rediscovered the joy of “aquascaping” (as the YouTubers now call it.) Looking...

    Carrying heavy cooking gear

There is something very satisfying about cooking on cast isn’t there? I take mine car camping or on short journeys but I never consider putting it in a rucksack. I’ve been looking into the GSI lightweight cast iron pans and think they look really good. There’s not much online about them...

    Nibbles.. and possibly Nobbles.

The wife always makes “truffles” this time of year. A recipe swiped from a Scottish relative. Oreo biscuits blended up and mixed with cream cheese, then rolled into small balls about the size of a large marble. Once set in the fridge for a while they’re then covered in melted white or milk...

    A small collecton of skulls

I’m not sure about a young badger but I’d agree with Broch, usually they have the line down the centre of the cranium. Otter also is similar and stoat but that would be too small. The only other suggestion is it could be a polecat, they’re usually a bit smaller than 5” though. @JonathanD ?? :-D

The Police have recovered the bodies of the four lads who went missing on Sunday.

About half a mile from our village too. Shame to say there’s quite a few reporters lurking around the village trying to interview locals. I said to one, please just let people do their job, and give people space to grieve.

    Gas Cannisters Vs Liquid Fuel

If temperatures are down so cold that your gas is going to struggle I’d have two questions for you. A.) Are you going to hang around for long at such a temperature? B.) Will you be erecting a shelter which will increase temperature enough for it not to be an issue?
