Right, I am offering a brand new 8mm diameter ferro rod mounted in a cherry handle. It has a striker and will be packed with a variety of tinders so you can play without having to break the social distancing rules :) - I'll include some cramp balls, cotton wool, reedmace seed, charcloth and...

    Woodland Custodianship

I hope Nomad64 will forgive me for copying his post into here as it may be of interest to some. I subscribe to the TCV handbooks and they are quite useful. I also have a number of their paper published handbooks. So, from Nomad64: < Friends who work for Wildlife Trusts swear by the manuals...

    Cordage

That's a tidy length of good twine. There's a bone in the nasal passage of a sheep's skull (and probably other herbivores, I don't know) that is shaped almost like a perfect hook and can be made quite sharp. I only say this because, around here, sheep's skulls are two a penny on the hills :)

Actually, I've changed my mind, I think 11 is the Gruffalo and the Mouse :)

Absolutely filthy, aching, muddy, happy :)

I need to do the same. The pond is a bit larger than yours and is natural clay so no liner but it's choked up with plants including reedmace and has a lot of silt in it brought down by the small stream that feeds it. We originally excavated an old small pond with a JCB. The trouble is it's still...

    What choice

Nice Whisky; you won't get that out of a home still either :) - well not to my taste anyway. The best use is to make a 'clean' spirit then add botanicals to produce a passable (very passable actually) gin or use it to make sloe gin type liqueurs.

    Cattail ( Typha Latifolia )

I confess, and this is a big confession for someone that has been foraging for a very long time, I have never made flour out of anything - there, it's out :)

OK, I've got it now - it did take a while :)
  17. Broch

    What choice

No, No, No NO, No --- you cannot make a good tasting malt using these stills :) If you drink Bells blended, fine have a go, but you'll never get a Caol Ila or a Laphroaig.

    What choice

Yes, it works and it's good value compared to some others (though I paid a bit less for it 18 months ago). A friend of mine has one and adjusted the thermostat to exactly 78 degrees - apparently that is the ideal temperature - I don't know, I haven't bothered.
