Since changing belts around and various other things I wanted to get a Casstrom dangler as I prefer tools to be hanging freely or double dangling rather than rigid on a belt.

I have a couple of solutions, one of which was/is my go to from kitmonster. Paracord and various other things have been tried but not overly happy with.

So, Since i have some spare time on my hands and fortunately some spare parts kicking around I thought id give this a go.

This is Mk1 and immediately after making it in leather, I can see where it can be improved in terms of strength, but for now im going to test this one to destruction and see if it actually works at all.

Basic Idea is a one piece leather dangler or sheath mount with minimal working parts, strong, robust and easy to manufactuer.

As you can see in picture one, I think the leather I chose maybe too thick but I dont have a lot of choice at the moment.

There is quite a bit of unesscessary leather which for now im going to leave and trim later. I should have used hole punches in the slot corners , will be on MK2 or even a dedicated slot punch but i dont have one of those.

Tested on old style mora plastic sheath and the newer style fits as well.

I can see potential for adding other tools to the sheath, maybe a ferro rod? options endless i guess.

Thanks for looking and enjoy.

Thanks All, very kind. If anyone want to make a "nice" version please go ahead. It would be great to see skills, I don't possess, in use.

I like the idea, I have also tied paracord versions in the past and not been happy.

When I get a moment, I will try my hand at making a version too.

I found wet forming the leather really helped but mine is 4mm thick??

In the diagram i found that I would of liked more material at point A, maybe incresed to 7mm+ , which would increase the size of B to approx 60mm

Also C slot is quite generous so could be reduced adding more strength to A as this seems to be the weak point when adding and removing sheath.

I could see this fail after several fittings.

Enjoy

All part of the fun :) im probably over engineering it as how many times does it really need the sheath removed as it can slide over belt... If mine breaks ill post here. I also used renapur on the leather sheath slot which helps too.

So finding an old belt, that I bought to make a leather strop, I thought I would change my plans and make a double prepose belt dangler.

One that can hold a clip on mora and leather loop for an axe, but only one at a time. This is still in progress, as I need a quick stitch here and there, just glued at the moment.

Will add a picture when completed.

When you look down into the gap, you can see the leather spacers

The design has its issues, but works very well as an axe holder

Right moving on from the leather holder that was not that suitable for my mora, I recycled a bit of belt wedding from a backpack and made this.

Pictures are from start to finished product, works very well. The loophole the Mora sheath clip, mine had to be adjusted to fit, only because the webbing was not that wide.
