    Kydex assistance please.

The correct foam is EVA Ethyl vinyl acetate, 40 density, the type they use for running shoes etc for the spacer between the sole and shoe... I use 20 to 30mm thick between two 6mm plywood backed "plates." I stand on the mold and balance like a ballerina for at least a minute, and the check for...

Chris Reeve Shadow III. Survival Knife.

I did 13 like this one, and three with guards. 440C one piece, with 440C annealed tail caps with o-rings and Kydex sheaths There are folk out there doing one piece knives, but most are assembling from bits. I will not do any more, so do not ask? :) This one is mine, all others were numbered.

Chris Reeve Shadow III. Survival Knife.

Eddie Myers was Chris's boss and friend, and then Chris went on his own, making knives full time. You might notice that later knives had obvious machining marks on the ricasso area? Eddies workshop was about 3 klicks from my flat, and I went to him to machining brass, and I saw the CRK process...

BTW, all the OPK were made in the RSA, and the grind profile and blade shape were done in the USA, hence the licence to say "Made in the USA. " When the maker ( who i knew) retired in the RSA, CRK stopped "making" them... No matter, they were and are fine knives right now!

    Kukri for Bushcraft use ?

I made 15 or so, 12 inch blades, and I use one as often as I can at home for wood chopping, and branch trimming. Used it a couple of times in the bush for the same chopping and trimming work, and even sliced a few tomatoes, after a quick sharpen wih a carbide rod.

what piece[s] of kit have you left behind

During my Army days, we dug trenches 4 foot deep on occasion, and after a nights rest, we backfilled our trenches, grabbed our gear and we all carried on the patrol. The problem was, I had removed my beloved SAK from out my front pants pocket, and hooked it on a Mopani root that stuck out about...

    Healthy insect repellent

Half Dettol and half Johnson's Baby Oil in a bottle of a size of your choosing... I use 100ml plastic with a screw top lid. Shake before use and apply on exposed skin. Smells great, and safe for sensitive skins.

Savlon vs Germolene vs Neosporin vs Chloramphenicol

My take, based on personal trials. For wounds needing surtures, let the pros do the cleaning etc. Follow at your own risk... The Whole Trinty ( see what I did there? ) 1: I have 35% Hydro Perox in a small bottle, and....... 2 Manuka honey in a re-usable toothpaste tube, both wrapped...

What are the aims & purpose of Bushcrafting?

Bushcraft is making do, with what you have, where you are... Think outside the square... Seriously, adapt or (maybe) die... Skills are accumulated, and practised to make perfect... :)

    Ray mears or ed stafford?

Keith Richards. He has eaten and drunk everything on this planet, and he is STILL alive...and he knew Otzi when they both were kids. :)
