    Berghaus Vulcan Harness

Thanks, It's hard to tell from the photo whether the lumbar area sticks out. I've been searching the net for a profile shot of the back system.

    Berghaus Vulcan Harness

Hi All, I'm interested in the Berghaus Vulcan. I've always wanted one since I was a kid. I have a few questions regarding the harness. I know the pack is a hit on the forum, so hopefully some owners can help me out. Does it have a lumbar pad? It's hard to tell from photos whether the back panel...

Can you damage sil-nylon by not drying it out?

I've been lazy with my silnylon and left it wet for a while. Never had a problem.

3 season camping: down or synthetic (or other solution)

You sound like a human furnace! I agree, down may not be the best choice!

Down for me. I've used it on extended wet weather trips in my hammock under a tarp. It's carried in a drybag lined with a garbage bag. What are you all doing that you end up with sopping sleepingbags?

    What is your baseweight?

I just got back from an overnighter with a baseweight of 5.5kg. Didn't feel that light, as I still had to lug 6.5L of water... this is why I go light :)

    Can anyone help me?

Not all our wood is hard. I don't know if you have anything in WA remotely rainforesty, but if so, head down there. Lovely soft carving shall be yours. I don't bother with woods from up the ridges. Mick, I only have the SWC version of the woodlore, but I understand the specs are pretty much the...

I want to buy a decent water bottle but don't have a clue what one!

I guess that's the issue. If I'm having to camp on a ridgetop and have to make 500m elevation, I need to carry 6L up there... blessed are those who can camp close to water. Sometimes I only hit one water point each day. Sometimes not even that often.

how do you guys manage multi day trips with less than 2L water capacity? I'm seeing some of you only list one bottle! I need 3L at night for dinner, drinks and brekky.

I want to buy a decent water bottle but don't have a clue what one!

I've used PET bottles for 6 months before chucking them out. They're free and as lightweight as it gets. Nalgenes and commerical bottles tend to be pretty clunky and heavy. Especially when you have to lug 5 or 6L.
