    What's with the spam?

    Trust me, it's obvious.

    What's with the spam?

Assuming you're using a web-based client, yes. Not all of us do. My annoyance with this one is that it was sent to my main e-mail address, which I'm very careful of - not only that, but it was visible to all the other 94 recipients, most of whom I don't know. Sorry, but that's rubbish. My...

    What's with the spam?

Yep, you can, and I now have, as well as changing it to my webmail e-mail address. I knew the option existed, I just (probably naively) assumed that sending e-mail was done in such a way that the address couldn't be mined. It would be nice if that option could be turned off by default though...

    Odd email!

I stripped the e-mail into text to get the full headers - usually it's very clear when you do that if it's coming from somewhere other than appears in the e-mail. The headers on this one look straightforward - I can supply them on request.

    Odd email!

From the headers I looked at - no, it doesn't look like it. It doesn't appear to be munged in any way, and I suspect the person in the 'To' field is another address for the person who sent it, judging by the whois DNS information listed for canvasrepaircentre.co.uk.

    Odd email!

See also this thread. That e-mail had 95 recipients, and presumably they're all live addresses if they were pulled from this site.

    What's with the spam?

I've just received spam entitled "From one BCUK member to another" purporting to be from the Canvas Repair Centre , signed 'Tony', plugging a couple of sites whose links were apparently removed from the forum. It was sent to a large number of forum users, in such a way that all e-mail addresses...

    Europe or "splendid isolation"?

Depends whether you're talking geology or culture. We're part of Europe in a physical, tectonic plate kind of way - but we're certainly not European in culture.

    Quiz

I remember news reports of a guy who got attacked and beat off the shark - by hitting it on the nose. I suspect it depends on the kind of shark though - if a small shark's got your leg, you're going to better off than if a large shark's got your arm and half your shoulder!

    Homemade Wine

We tried this last year (with grapes) - it did end up going off, but then some of the grapes had gone a bit too far. I have tried making sourdough bread, and that didn't really work either :( Mind you, it's quite built up round here, so that may have something to do with it. Hops have only...

Is necklace/pendant bushcrafty make or not?

Veg-tanned leather takes impressions well, and can be dyed or waxed afterwards. Bardster has done some of this - such as a pendant of the White Horse of Uffington. Otherwise you could try carving bone or horn, both of which give good results. As to whether it's bushcrafty - I don't see...

    Sloe gin.

Blimey! I need a lot more sugar in it then! :D

    Sloe gin.

Not sure about the quantities now - basically, took an empty litre (Bacardi?) bottle, filled it about 2/3 with sloes, topped it up with gin. Can't remember how much sugar went in, but I'd think anything up to half a pound for that amount of fruit. Perhaps it wasn't as much as that, because you...

    Sloe gin.

Reading this thread, I don't know what happened to our sloe gin, unless we just used too many sloes. There was sugar in with it, but after 3 months it was so sharp it felt like it was taking the skin off the roof of my mouth. :( Not sure how to save it - add more sugar or just dilute it a bit...
