    Lowa Sizing?

I think in particular their newer line of shoes requires a full size upgrade. The good ol' classics appear true to size.

    Fear of the dark

Living on the European mainland we have little to fear indeed. Wolves are spreading again, which is good, and is no threat to humans. I spend a lot of time in the US and still have a hard time dealing with the potential of bears. Just not use to it.

    Fear of the dark

I can't recall the exact details of those 20+ pages but was there evidence of actual tracking or actions that let to the conclusion that this individual is most likely a skilled tracker? He is sneaky for sure, wears treadless soles... that's linked indeed to stalking. But a stalker isn't...

    Berghaus Centurio review.

Got a few questions / concerns perhaps with the Centurio - or for that matter the spring 2011 Berghaus military line. - The ice axe plastic attachment seem to be systematically wrongly oriented on the new range. These attachments should be strapped onto vertical webbing, so it sits horizontally...

    New SAK

Got the alox Farmer. Best SAK I've ever had by far. Every single function makes sense and works flawlessly (superb saw, knife, drill). Much more sturdier than the regular red ones, just a tad heavier, feels really good in the hand. It's a thing of beauty too. You will not be disappointed.

    Bushcraft v.s. Survival

You mentioned you were neither, you also mentioned you just enjoy being outdoors, and most importantly you are spot on with the labeling. I wholeheartedly agree. My point with the above post was I simply apply certain skills to my outdoors activities, which happen to be generally labeled as...

    Bushcraft v.s. Survival

Yip exactly my thought as well; survival is a merely a situation, bushcraft are skills. We apply those skills to enjoy the outdoors. What we are labeled is not that relevant; I don't feel the need to be categorized, although I'm definitely not a survivalist, cause that makes it sounds like I'm...

    Bushcraft v.s. Survival

That was a pro bushcraft comment for the record.

    Bushcraft v.s. Survival

Right. If I apply so called bushcraft skills then that's merely because I'm lazy and don't want to carry too much. I use sources for water so I don't need to carry liters of water. I carry a stainless steel small kettle so I don't have to carry a burner. I can light in fire in pretty much all...

    Garmin e-Trex H - any good?

The "H" in the name makes it a highly sensitive sensor which makes it accurate. Good. The bad is this thing doesn't have USB connection so impossible to connect onto any modern day computer. The link above is for a serial connection which are typically not available on computers nowadays...

    Bushcraft v.s. Survival

Survival is getting out. Bushcraft is getting in.

Anyone used Buffalo fibrepile kit in artic conditions?

That sounds like a great deal indeed cause good ol' Woolpower is pricey! If I may suggest. Wear the 200 shirt on your bare skin. It will be much more efficient in moisture management - because of the tiny loops on the inside even when wet it doesn't feel wet to the skin. Your warmth will drive...

Anyone used Buffalo fibrepile kit in artic conditions?

What is the Woolpower 600 jacket like? I have the 200 shirt and 400 jacket (those thumb loops are great!) and I am considering purchasing the 600 for next winter. Actually wish the 600 came as a vest.

    Fear of the dark

Interesting thread. Especially that last bit. A couple of random thoughts. - Chances are indeed you are the scariest thing out there. Most animals will avoid you indeed. However that doesn't mean you can't encounter them. I've met a huge wild boar the other day in broad daylight. There were...
