    Bilhooks - anyone use them?

It's a Morris Devon pattern for me. This one in fact https://woodsmithexperience.co.uk/shop/product/morris-devon-billhook/ Not nearly as nice as some of the old ones I've used (keep dreaming of stumbling across a bargain at a car boot) but perfectly serviceable for my needs... Children splitting...

Just a thought about your bow saw

Yes, in fact there are almost as many rules as there are exceptions to the rules! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

Trangia stove and Vango bio-ethanol runaway flames!

That all makes sense, it was a long burn so despite the low ambient temperature when I had the issue it could well have heated it's immediate area. Combined with the thin metal base to the windshield drawing heat in as I attempted to trap heat for a better oven effect I perhaps went over a...

Trip Report Win Hill wildcamp, with a mini quarry to hide in, and another awesome steak!

Like the cheese hound I am I... Went into Sainsbury's and bought the smallest chunk of something Stilton looking that they had! I don't know if all Sainsbury's cheese counters will have it, but worth a try. It was, to my mind, a little creamier and less strident than Stilton. Very tasty. Hope...

Trip Report Win Hill wildcamp, with a mini quarry to hide in, and another awesome steak!

Got really lucky with the porter, everywhere and to have sold out when I found some on Beer Heroes. Even more lucky with caught in the rain when a friend bought it and we shared a can! Glad you enjoyed the vid :-) Chris. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

Trip Report Win Hill wildcamp, with a mini quarry to hide in, and another awesome steak!

Thank you, you have some stamina (or glutton for punishment) but is something comes across that's worth watching, glad you are enjoying it :-) I like the mini (obviously) for its size and surprising versatility! Just makes it difficult to just have a straight dehydrated meal and 3 in 1 coffee...

Thank you Fadcode. If I'd not been so rushed off have tried to rework the photos somehow so they were all the right way up, but I guess most people can cope :-) Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

Trangia stove and Vango bio-ethanol runaway flames!

However Vango sell thisa suitable fuel for spirit burners, not as a household cleaner. So an expectation of reasonable performance is, reasonable. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

Trangia stove and Vango bio-ethanol runaway flames!

EkoFuel was the stuff I was recommended. The fact that I had it pretty closed down with a wind shield may have trapped more heat as well. A less l likely problem with the full sized Trangia kits I'm also guessing. Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

Trangia stove and Vango bio-ethanol runaway flames!

Another suggestion that I've been given (thanks Emma & J Law on YouTube) was to leave the burner in a tray/dish of water to absorb excess heat. As I usea Trangia mini it basically Congress with a mini dish already, so I'm looking forward to that experiment, asking with another brand of...

Yep, was considering a little water just to dilute rather than any soot control, thank you! Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

Trangia stove and Vango bio-ethanol runaway flames!

No, but they dope the products to try and get a roughly similar characteristic, or so I thought :-) Sent from my Pixel 2 using Tapatalk

You know what, I had no idea so I had a check and yes, it is. His cheese game is strong (well, whoever helped him along) and I might be back for more :-)

Trangia stove and Vango bio-ethanol runaway flames!

Hello! I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I've used meths in the Trangia for years without issue but last time I was rushing for a bottle there was none in the shop, but they did have this bio-ethanol from Vango. Alcohol is alcohol right? Or so I thought and picked it up. I'd...

Trip Report Win Hill wildcamp, with a mini quarry to hide in, and another awesome steak!

Finished my edit, but some pictures sideways, not sure yet what to do about that, sorry! They still tasted good ;-) Well, it's almost like I'm back on one camp a month! Anyhow, this time I had some warning, some time and actually tried to get out at a decent time, and again, try and get in a...
