All arguments aside, congratulations to both you and Vic (I am actually being sincere there).

More like I just cannot be bothered with being pedantic... Still, since you're going to push the point... "pants" (the word and its association) came from the 19th century British term "pantaloons", with its roots coming from the 3rd century canon "Saint Pantaleone". Pan being greek for "all"...

    Anyone with pure hydration experience?

I've yet to see this "massive manual" of which you speak. The LifeSaver front-side wash process is described in 6 pictographs.... hardly a bible of work to read through.

Surprised how many of you are admitting to wearing underpants on the outside of your pants. Superman much? :P

I got mine at Action Outdoors. Not cheap, I'll grant you, but the guy who runs it has the correct measuring tool for length and width (which makes a massive difference) and clearly knows his boots as he knew exactly what boots would fit me perfectly right out the gate. I also strongly recommend...

Mine costs me £32 a session, and she's cracking (no pun intended). I see her once every two weeks. A suggestion re boots is to avoid the temptation to buy the 9" high "army-style" boots. They put additional stress on your hamstrings, and in my case caused damage to my ankles. I go with the 6"...

Only if I can call you Gandalf ;)

I recommend Lowa or Meindl boots. Pricey, but unbelievably comfortable, well built, and tough. Also, Meindl are the only company that seems to make boots in my exact length and width (I have unnaturally wide feet). I'll be moving into my new offices in Rendlesham over the next two weeks, so if...

No... definitely not. In all honesty I didn't feel well on Friday either, but I thought it was just one of those 24 hour stomach bugs as I'd felt fine on Saturday morning before I left. Still feel a bit funny today, though... and had to force myself to eat. We'll see if it kicks off again.

Yes, I'll be bringing it to the meet. Not going to give anything away until then though :)

    What have you learned recently?

Indeed... just wish I'd had some with me, then I'd have been able to avoid the hike home in the middle of the night. That said, it was a beautiful night (between ejections anyway). Didn't need a flashlight or anything, the moon was bright and clear. Such a shame it had to end the way it did :(...

I can list it all: - Snugpak Elite 5 sleeping bag (my usual) - DD Small (2013 version) Tarp (1.8m by 2.8m) which makes a great lean-to ground shelter. - Therm-A-Rest XTherm inflating mat (by far the warmest and most comfortable I've had, though also the most expensive so swings and roundabouts...

    What have you learned recently?

Oh don't get me wrong, I only take them as a last resort... and facing that hike with all that gear, I'd happily put off the natural purge for a night if I'd had the option. I seem reasonably okay today... and about half an hour ago I finally dared to eat something. We'll see if my body decides...

I hiked from my house to one of my permissions... only to find the entire area submerged in about 4-5" of water (still hasn't dried up since the flooding). So I hiked from there, through part of Tunstall Forest, around a farmer's field, and about a mile down a road to another of my permissions...
