I love chess and have a couple of really nice poratble pocket sets which means I can take them with me whenever I'm out and about. My brother turned his own set on his small lathe at Christmas for our dad - if he has a photo I'll get him to post it.

i was just going to let people know that Amazon are currently selling laplander saws for £13.53, which i thought was a good price, certainly less than i paid for mine. however, i didn't realize until i tried to order on that with postage it took the price to £17.59. i think tics is a growing problem wherever you go. I was in New York state a few years ago where limes disease was a real problem and people were dying from it. My wife had a tic burrow into her hip and it was very scarry - they had to send it off for analysis to check if it was infected or not...

I say 'lobster pot', but I'm more interested in catching crayfish. I am canoing on one of the Thames tribuataries where I am led to believe there is an abundance of crayfish so would like to have a go at catching some. I think I know the general principle behind a trap but have not seen one...
