    The old Britishblades forum

I joined in 2008. Been away from the knives for a few years since I moved to Canada. Just started getting the workshop going so went to BB for some inspiration to find it gone. Shame. Had some good times in there. Really enjoyed the knife progress shots that people posted. I still use a torch...

I would be on BB asking about BCUK if i had problems loading the site. Both equally great sites I can't do without

Canada in September - What to expect?

The summer here has not been good by Canadian standards. We have had lots of rain and the temperatures have not been as hot as expected. There is talk of us getting a good September like an Indian summer. You never know though. I have camping trips booked for every weekend in September and the...

    Old wood saw

Thanks for the photo launditch1 it has really helped me out. And Dave thanks for the instructions that seem to make it simpler than I had imagined it would be. I don't have a bath big enough to soak the thing in tea but the I might give that a go with something else. I'm definitely going to buy...

    Old wood saw

Launditch, thanks for letting me know what it is. Ideal for what I intend to use it for Dave, do you know where i could find details on handle types? I've seen a few different designs and I'm not sure what to go with. I was going to make them myself so I am looking for the simplest way. The...

    Old wood saw

I just bought this for $5 and thought i would have a go sharpening it and putting handles on it. Anyone here have any experience in this sort of malarky? The rust is not as bad as it looks and the teeth are all straight as is the saw Any advice appreciated :)

    Granfors Froe

I've seen Mike in action on one of his courses and would have to say he could probably make anything work well for him! Quickthorn, Ray Iles do a 10" convex edged froe http://tinyurl.com/pmedk6 My Gransfors has a very slight convex egde to it from the factory. It is expensive which is...

    Granfors Froe

I bought it because unlike most froes available the Gransfors one should in theory make the above statement correct as the handle and eye has a taper that looks like it should not shift once whacked. The handle does however slip like previous froes i have owned (Iles). Its a shame as it really...
