    Arctic Circle, solo. (pic heavy)

Just wanted to give personal thanks to Doc for this thread. Ever since I've seen it, (few years ago) I've always dreamed of doing this. And I've just returned from a 7 day solo trip from the exact same location, all inspired by you Doc :) Already thinking of booking my next flight to...

Rope - what do you use?

For me : Anything that you suspect will outperform paracord (size and weight but gets the job done) :)

Rope - what do you use?

Fair play if they work for you. I was just shocked to hear someone suggest using the blue poly rope as kindling and an old washing line as a ridge line. If wanting to upgrade my paracord to something more fancy makes me a designer bushcrafter, so be it, I'll bling it up in the woods and...

    First insect bite...

seen mozzies all over my house for the past week - although not biting yet? Also last weekend did a camp in the lakes and came back bitten. I don't see it as bad luck, I see it as preparation for my trip to Finland next month.

Cheapest source of 3mm Veg Tan leather for sheathes?

Same here I use Abbey in Knutsford. Good as I can inspect what they have and pick the best bit for me. around £5 per square foot. I believe. I usually keep 2 3 and 4mm in stock for different projects.
