    Kestrel Trousers

Thanks for these replies; the "pertex feel" especially - I'm looking at Ventile because I'm around fires a lot (and I like natural fibres), so maybe the Kestrels aren't for me. Pity, they look a great trouser.

    Kestrel Trousers

More trouser questions! Has anybody tried out Country Innovation's Kestrel trousers. They seem a possibility but I am curious about the "Innovation XL Lining". What is that and how does it feel on the skin? Anybody know?

"Squeaky" sounds serious, you're right to stay off the beans!

    quiet trousers

Thank you all for your replies. Having looked at the Fjall Raven site I've realised another facet of my quest - you see, I'm only a 32" waist and a lot of this gear seems to start at 34" (why is that?). As for cotton... I live in Snowdonia and have a neon-like sign that blinks "cotton...

Hi Guys. Has anyone got a reccomendation for a quiet pair of trousers? I've been wearing Kiwis's for a good while and they're versatile, but very loud! Ta.

    Solo camping

Anywhichway is good for me as each has its own blessings. By 'man's best friend' I assume that to mean a fine 15 year old single malt, while 'other' really intrigues me.

    Gwynedd bender build

Just back in from a great weekend of simple pleasures up in the hills. Didn't build a bender in the end but set up a real easy rig for a big tarp under a fine old oak. Warm but a little damp at times, a great craic around the fire and buzzards a'plenty winging about above.

    Tiger Tiger burning bright...

Strikes me that there is little difference between any method. A lighter and whatever you have is handy, a firesteel with cotton wool/vaseline is fun, a striker with flint and charcloth is wonderfully retro, a bowdrill is immensely satisfying, a handrill is the paragon of skill in these climes...

    Gwynedd bender build

Shewie.. I'm thinking of a bender type frame with a ground area about 10 - 15 feet across so as I can easily throw a tarp over it but there are the materials availiable to do something a bit more substantial should the mood take us! Aragorn... Friday night's a probable but just Sat-Sun is...

    BCUK or BUCK

Got a Buck somewhere around that I've had for years. I used to like it (20 years ago) but reckon a Frosts Mora 740 is a better knife. Oh, and the tip broke off my buck too, can't recall how now but I wasn't being that daft! Seems an emotive issue this, and the poor chap was only messing with...

    Gwynedd bender build

I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in helping to build a shelter at a little spot I have the use of up in the hills near Porthmadog. It's part using practical skills and part a chance to play in the woods, camp out , sit around a fire and shoot the breeze. I'm thinking of the weekend...
