    Bowdrill succes!

Clouston98 - I tried Buddleia on Buddleia as I had heard something about pith centred wood being good for hand drill! Anyway it worked a charm for bow drill. Yet to do hand drill. Bonus is - it's everywhere! If you can't find a long straight piece I did a small section and lashed it to a longer...

Liking the adhesive approaches - no new kit. But will it get silly sticky? I've got a scene in my head of 'carry on camping' with one big mass of tent, pots, mats, sleeping bags etc, with a pair of legs sticking out the bottom!

I want sticky camping...not slippy camping!

Hi all, Had my second ever solo overnighter in a wood this weekend. Something that bothers me with bushy craft camping, and camping generally, is the fact that most of your sleeping kit (well mine any way) is slippy...you know slippy nylon sleeping bags, thermarest mats, ground sheets etc. This...

    ethics of game shooting

I wouldn't be too harsh on organic produce Rik. It's not all about yuppies with cash to spare - says the working class London boy who buys all the cheap cuts!. Much organic produce has higher nutritional value, none of the harmful chemicals that get absorbed into our bodies and destroy other...

Save Our Forests - Britain Act Now

I've been doing some snooping over the last week regarding all this. The Countryside Alliance thought there could potentially be huge benefits from the sell-off… …and maybe suggesting that it’s all been blown out of proportion…? Anyway, as well as the 38 degrees...

Save Our Forests - Britain Act Now

I signed the petition with 38 degrees the other day and spread the word to my family and friends. That's a great start but it doesn't seem enough to me. Does anyone have ideas on what else we could do? I was thinking that the Countryside Alliance would be a good start but can't think of any...

    First ever spoon carving

Dosn't look like you need other peoples 'spoony secrets' - great first spoon! I've never used an axe on spoon carving but a few stop cuts with my folding saw and some splitting with teh knife gets a lot of teh waste off quickly - you probably did that anyway!
