That's the same problem with the HanWag boots. As a result of their success they seem to move production to cheaper parts of the world and standards drop.
I'd be interested to hear from anyone with experience of the Altberg Gamekeeper boots. At least they have stayed in the UK.
my old Han Wag Trapper boots have finally come to the end of their working life - they've lasted 8 years and have been brilliant from day 1.
So as Han Wag don't make this model anymore I'm looking at a selection of boots to replace them. My short list is:

Johnny - dont rule out the Hanwags - I thought they were cheap boots made in the Far East, how wrong was I, Hanwags are still handmade in Germany and have been for years.
