You could try Shining Cliff woods at Alderwasley. It used to be owned by the Grith Pioneers & you could get permission to wild camp. Not too sure atm but might be worth a bit of research. Might be worth starting here.... https://shiningcliffhostel.co.uk/

We solved the putting it onto the car roof issue by buying a trailer. Much easier as we don't have to lift it over our heads. Hope this helps.

At about 3am last thursday I said my last goodbye to the best friend I have ever had as I sat on the floor with him at our local vets. He had had more than his fair share of health issues - hip displasia & diabetes, which required daily injections but he was always happy & loved a game...

I'd get an air rifle! Seriously, they're very effective (with a scope & decent pellets) & unlike traps/snares you only kill what you see.
