    mushroom knife brush

I hate to reopen such a old thread, but I thought I should clear up some things about this... You never want to actually pick the mushroom as that will damage the Mycelium and that will slow down the growth of new mushrooms. A mushroom knife should be VERY so as to cut without damaging the...

    SOL ''CORE-LITE'' knife

It's a nice little knife but if it is the same in the UK as in the USA it has a lock blade which may be a problem for you in the UK. It is very sharp and slices very well. Not for heavy use but you could easily cut 1 inch limbs with it using multiple cuts. Just thought I would put my mini-review...

Throwing a spark from a Fire Steel

Thanks for the link... Of course it led me to hours watching youtube videos...

    Millbank Bag

Any updates? Also, a question... I know keeping them clean is not exactly important, but... The one I have seems to be full of roach droppings, or something similar. And while I know that that really does not matter if you are using it the way it is supposed to be used, I wonder if it might have...

    Survival v Bushcraft?

How about this: You are kidnapped and told you are going to be dropped somewhere in the wilderness with nothing but ONE knife, and are given the choice between a 'survival' knife and a bushcraft knife... If you argue about how that is not realistic, then he will either kill you or drop you off...

    Transit Compass

Do not down the three arm protractor, we used them on the boat when you needed to find your position FAST and RELIABLY. You set the THREE bearings you get from your instruments and just line them up with the objects on the map. You take RELATIVE bearings, not compass bearings. So the protractor...

    Transit Compass

There is a website where they post all kinds of these things as PDF files so that you can print them out on transparency 'paper' and use them... If I can find it, I will post it. They sell them also, if I remember correctly, but I do not think that they make much profit on them!

    Transit Compass

And I thought my K&E(Keuffel and Esser) Pocket Transit for around $99.00 to $120.00 I thought the Brunton was better built but the K&E had the altitude scale vernier on the bubble arm tapered so that the scale had very little parallax error as the scale was only about a mm or less from the base...

    Transit Compass

You need a detailed star map of the north polar region of the sky... Polaris is NOT at North. It changes a little every year, but not much. The finder scope on my telescope has a circular grid that you use a circular slide rule device to calculate where in the eyepiece on the grid that you...

    Transit Compass

He could make a cheap artificial horizon and learn to use it on land easily... A clue... You can use water instead of mercury for the liquid... Though I would LOVE to have one of the old ones with the mercury reservoir. I remember when my father was taking Celestial Navagation school courses by...

    Magenta MkII Bat Detector

Is there anything specific about this detector as to the type of bat? Does it cover the frequencies for all bats around the world? I live in Texas in the USA and There used to be bats in the neighborhood, and this could be fun to track them down with!

"Calcium carbide lighter"?, Do they still exist?

Beat me to it, but that smoker looks nicer than the one I have! You may have just cost me some more money! I also have a carbide lamp and this just reminded me that I did not clean it out the last time I used it, which is a big no-no with carbide lamps!
