Trying to find last years anylers

I've found a few in the Scottish Hills, always singles, never a pair. Mostly found well off the beaten track where many folk rarely go, I guess.

Advice - Cairngorms Plateau Camping November

Did this trip ever go ahead?

Suggest a 2/3 season down sleeping bag

    Another vote for Alpkit Nick

    Which Land Rover?

To reply to the original question, I have had a few Landies including Defender and Disco (both 300TDi). Defender = more practical (hose out inside, carries its scars well etc) Disco = comfort, but still good off road. Avoid the auto on a Disco 300Tdi, it just robs too much power and leaves...

    Rucksack recommendations please

These make good sacks: http://www.aiguillealpine.co.uk/ Made in UK too and a great small firm to deal with. Nick

Any ideas? After a tough rucksack in a bright colour

Fjallraven do the style you want, but cheap they are not. Although they may not make the style of sack you desire, Aiguille Alpine in Stavely near Kendal make superb kit http://www.aiguillealpine.co.uk/ Adrian, the boss is also a great guy to deal with. Nick

    Parking for Dartmoor

I'd go with Princetown too. Maybe not the carpark, but onstreet towards the prison from the moorland visitor centre. Nick

National Trust car parking - overnight

I've parked in Langdale and Wasdale Head NT carparks for several days while in the hills. Just leave my NT member parking permit on dash. Never had any probs but mine is a beat up old landy. Nick

    Cairngorms walking maps

Could try the 1:40000 Cairngorms map produced by Harveys in association with the BMC. They're doing 3 for 2 on BMC maps at the mo. Printed on plastic material, so totally waterproof: http://www.bmcshop.co.uk/index.php?cPath=278_279 Nick

    whipping/seizing cord?

Yep, I use the pre-waxed twine too. I think the stuff I have comes from Marlow Ropes and is sold wound onto small plastic reels (actually the small reel-to-reel tape recorder reels - remember them?). Like wise, I have several sizes/colours. Nick

Bergen / Rucksack / Pack what are the top 5?

I'll second a vote for Aiguille Alpine. Although I don't own one (yet) when (if) my old Karrimor Alpiniste falls apart and Aiguille pack will definitely be in the running. We've been into the shop/factory in Stavely several times and they are really helpful, obliging folk. Plus you get the warm...

Heads Up Cheap but quality Carabiners

£15 for 5 Clog krabs is indeed a good deal. R&R are a good firm to deal with too. Thanks for the heads up.

Kit List - Scottish Highlands November 2 Weeks

If you are still planning on venturing on the Cairngorm plateau, I'd suggest a good wind/waterproof jacket is essential rather than a poncho. Good waterproof trousers and gaiters too. Spare maps always a good idea too. I'll often use the 1:25000 primarily, but carry 1:50000 of the same area as...

Advice - Cairngorms Plateau Camping November

I've spent many days in that area over the years. If your planning to go for 2 weeks in Nov you will almost certainly experience 'bad weather' of some form or another at some point, or possibly even for the duration. The plateau is infamous for several reasons, not least the wind, which often...

Romance or Madness (of The Long Distance Defender Owner)?

Ah Booths! Was in Booths Ulverston store last week before heading home to Cornwall. Loaded up with 3 crates of various ales at £1 per bottle. Brilliant store - wish we had one down here! Nick
