Sleeping bag - any good? Cotswold Sky 350PS

This is a bit like closing the door after the horse has bolted i.e. I have already bought this bag (bit of an impulse buy) and now I'm asking if it's any good! The bag is a Ayacucho Sky 350 PS from Cotswold. Should have been £45 but when in Norwich their store had them marked up as £40, although...

    Single click/ double click

Thanks for that. All good suggestions re. Firefox/ Google Chrome but I'm on a works laptop and the company takes a dim view on employees installing stuff so they limit the permissions. I'll wait to see if the mods fix it, in the meantime I'll just have to remember to double click... Gibbo.

    Single click/ double click

On every other web site I go on if I want to go back a page I single click the "back to" button or use the backspace key on the keyboard. A couple of weeks ago I noticed when using this forum I now have to double click the aforementioned buttons whilst other webpages still only require 1 click...

The Pigging Canoes & Stupid Idea

Thanks Gary. Yep, the Selway Fisher was finished a few years ago and I've since sold it and bought a fibreglass hull from a company called Apache Canoes and fitted it out myself (also blogged if you can get through all the posts on my site) and that's what I use now. Gibbo.

Gibbo’s version of Sudbury to the Sea

Blogged this on SoTP recently but since it's a bit bushcrafty I'd thought I'd post it here too. I’d decided, like many I suppose, to take the three days off between the bank holidays and wanted to get an overnighter in so decided for logistical reasons i.e. my wife could drop me off and...

The Pigging Canoes & Stupid Idea

I'd suggest some bouyancy if you haven't already got some. There are techniques to getting back into a boat partially filled with water, check out youtube. My tip for getting back in is get yourself floating flat in the water by kicking your legs, grab the opposite gunwale at the same time as...

    What did you buy today?

x2 dry bags (44 litres) and a 3 piece non-stick cooking set both from Aldi (much to my wife's dismay[again]). Gibbo.

    I like Hammocks.

I have this a lot with so called chinese "engineers" that we have over here. I try not to intervene for the most part up to the point where it becomes dangerous or parts will be damaged. Lack a basic hand tool skills is incredible, also a regular question I get is " which way do I tighten the...

    best hand drill vid...:):):)

I think it only took 3 hand changes before he'd got smoke and then 5 in total to have a good ember, quite impressive. He did made it look very easy indeed. Gibbo.

I'm always looking to start a fire!!

Thanks for all the replies - I feel somewhat "normal" again knowing I'm not the only one who does this. Now I just need to convince the wife and kids I'm normal! Gibbo.

I'm always looking to start a fire!!

I've recently been teaching my kids to use a fire steel and make their own fires in our little hobo stove. They're getting quite good now and realise they have to start small then pile on larger stuff once it gets going. We collected birch bark the other day but we normally use cotton wool since...

My frist tarp and hammock blog

Thanks for comments, advice and corrections of my terminology too. It turns out after looking at the that my initial knots were wrong after all. It all came flooding back when looking at the pictures. The upshot being that my tapes were not hard against the tree but were standing off allowing it...

My frist tarp and hammock blog

Not sure if this is the right section but I'm sure someone will move it if not.... After getting my hammock from the DD GB (thanks Sandbag) I felt it was time to give it a go so me and my eldest filled the rucksack with tarp and hammock and set out on our bikes to find a suitable place near...
